I now fully understood Emette Pierce at least I think so. I found someone other than my family and Milton I felt comfortable talking too. Today was Monday and as always I ate my lunch in the Libary. Milton sat down getting out his lunch. We switch sanwhich halfs. Me getting his PB and J. While he getting my BLT turkey club.

"So, we have two things to discuss" Milton exclaimed. I took a bite of my sandwich giving him attention to continue. "Well, first your birthday is in two weeks. What will we be doing" Milton spilled. "Your birthdays in two weeks" I heard a deep voice ask. My eyes move to Emette standing in the entry of the aisle.

His friend Kyle I believe his name was behind him. "Is this where all the cool kids sit" Kyle boomed. Milton glared at Kyle "shh" him. They both sat beside us causing Milton get huff with annoyance. "Yes, my birthday is in two weeks" I stammered. Emmett smirked nodding his head "so, I didn't hear your answer. What will you be doing" he asked?

"Well, she wanted go to this big book event but the tickets were sold out so-" I cut Milton off. "So, I will be staying home". "Looking at my calender too weeks from now is prom" Emmette sassed. "Yes, and I will be staying home". "Trust me. I tried telling her to go. It's our senior year. Prom is a must" Milton drawled.

Kyle lips tipped and he moved closer to Milton. "So, you're going" he said with a flirting tone. Milton folded his arms taking his gaze away from Kyle. The bell rang blessing me from this conversation. I got up leaving Milton and Kyle fighting. Emette followed me out of the library. "Even if you don't go to the prom. You should do something for your birthday" Emmette declared.

I stopped at my locker finally giving him full attention. "I haven't celebrated my birthday since my mom left. It just reminds me of the day she left on my birthday and never came back" I looked up at him. His mouth left ajar and he quickly closed it.

"Im sorry. If I was pushing you" he frowned. I shook my head smiling "you were just trying to help me as friend, So, I will see you tomorrow at your house for a project meet up" I asked. "Yeah," he added. We said our goodbyes and I went on to my car.

I headed home. Dad was doing another twelve-hour shift so I wouldn't see him till in the morning and Connor was at football practice. I made dinner and then went to finish off the last chapters of my book.

............
It was after school the next day. Seeing this beautiful home never cease to amaze me. I rang the doorbell and a few seconds later Emette mother answered. "Oh, finally. He told me you were coming by" she pulled me inside. We went down the hallway getting to living room and kitchen area. There were different color suits laid on the coach and Isla sitting on the island table.

As soon as she seen me she fluttered over. "So, Emmette tells me you aren't going to the prom, honey why not" Emmette mother asked. "She probably isn't going because she know you're trying to set her up with my Playboy of a brother" Isla hissed.

Emmette Mom gasped "Dont say that about your brother" she barked. Isla cowered like a little puppy looking at the suits on the coach. "Well, Mrs.Pierce-" I got cut off while she walked me to the dinning table. "Call me Caroline" she announced. I cleared my throat peeking at her "Well, Caroline I just don't feel comfortable about prom" I whispered.

Isla came sitting at dinning table with us. "Why? You're hot! Bangable. It would be fun" Isla blurted. Caroline face fumed looking at her daughter. I shed a tear causing both of them to pause and look at me. Caroline held my arm "what's wrong"? "My mother left when I was twelve. School dances have always been a sore subject for me. It would be wierd trying to go shopping with my dad trying to find dresses. I would hate to see other girls with their mom's bonding on things I can't ever do. It would just make me feel worse" I explained.

Both Isla and Caroline began to tear up. "Why are you both crying" Emmette scrunched his nose coming toward us. They were silent but once his eyes set on me he seem to cluster.
He strided to my seat grabbing my hand as his mom and sister called out. "Lets get you out of here before you start in their cry fest". I smiled letting him drag me to his room.

When we stepped in I sat on the coach like last time. He threw his phone on the bed swiping his hand through his hair. I checked out the suit he was wearing. The suit is black and button down undershirt cream white. The tie was black matching the suit. It fit him well showing off his athletic build.

He looked dashing like a movie star on the red carpet. He didn't look like anyone that would stand next to me. "If you're wondering about the suit my mom and sister are trying to figure out my prom look. I'm sorry I accidently let it slip that you weren't going. My mom made a whole fit. I hope she didn't try to persuade you. You have your reasons for not going. You don't have to explain yourself for anyone" he expressed.

My heart hammered at his words. "Plus you're lucky you don't have to try on thousands of get-ups like this" he said unfolding his suit jacket.
"I think you look handsome. I..I mean good. Not ugly in the slightest" I blubbered. "Thx," he said while grabbing his blinging phone off the bed. "Let me just get out of this and then we can start," he said right before going into the restroom.

I slapped my cheeks and scolded myself "Really? Not ugly in slightest" I groaned.
