Will I ever be woken up normally again? I'm beginning to really fucking wonder.

Especially as I'm woken up from my restless sleep to a large hand covering my mouth, and Dolion leaning in ridiculously close to me with a finger over his mouth, signaling to remain quiet.

I instantly grow anxious, wondering if someone else has found us. It was dumb of me to go to sleep like I did, but I was tired, and Dolion was resting and recovering.

He leans in closer, his lips brushing my ear as he talks in a hushed tone. "Someone is lurking around outside, I need you to go hide while I take care of them." His breath tickles my ear as he speaks, causing my skin to pebble up as chills run down my spine.

I don't allow people this close, I'm very weird when it comes to touch. I need my space, so someone being up in my space like this feels too intimate.

I swallow, unable to move or speak as he keeps his hand pressed to my mouth, that's when I realize he's waiting for my reply. A slight nod of my head and he lets go, but I still can't bring myself to move.

Fear has me feeling frozen.

Someone has come to either take or kill me. I'm not sure which would be worse.

Dolion grabs my hand, helping me up and guiding me towards the hallway leading to the bedroom. "Hide under the bed." He says quietly as he turns and starts gathering weapons from a bag I just now noticed he must have gotten out.

My eyes wander to a small handgun. "Shouldn't I have something to protect myself?" I question quietly, my eyes locked onto the shiny black object.

He looks at me and then the gun, rolling his eyes before smacking a clip into it and handing it towards me, handle pointed in my direction.

"Just don't shoot me, princess." He mumbles as I snatch the weapon out of his hand.

"Don't call me any more pet names and that's a promise."

"We'll see. Go hide."

I do as he says, not wanting to argue right now.

I close the bedroom door behind me before sliding under the bed, feeling like a scaredy cat, hiding while someone else keeps me safe. Risking his life.

What the fuck has my life come to?

A loud thud makes my heart leap inside my chest, and I strain hard to listen for any more noise.

More thuds, crashing sounds, followed by a single gunshot, then more chaos.

Men's angered voices can be heard filling the safe house.

And I feel anything but safe.

Dolion is already injured.. Does he even stand a chance in this fight?

I don't bother to think things through as I crawl back out from under the bed, once standing I ready the gun in my hand, making my way back out the bedroom door.

I keep my foot steps as light as possible as I near the chaos unfolding, gun raised and ready.

"Not so fucking tough with a bullet hole in your side, eh?" An unfamiliar voice speaks out, definitely male.

I peak around the corner to find Dolion in a headlock by a rough looking man, maybe a bit older than Dolion, but about the same size.

That doesn't matter when Dolion is already injured.

I take a deep breath, willing my hands to stop shaking to I can take a steady shot.

I've never shot anyone before. Never killed someone.
