After a blizzard, amidst the serene snow-covered landscape, the sun unfailingly graces the world with its warm smile, reminding us that even in the coldest moments, there's always a promise of brighter days ahead.

Canto 2 - Sunny Day

Boston's seawater flows, and Niagara Falls stands frozen like intricate ice sculptures. Even the waves freeze into captivating works of art. These were the scenes greeting them upon their arrival at the hotel.

Fortunately, the blizzard has subsided, and a welcome warmth begins to embrace the surroundings.

"Are you kidding me?" Meng Xiaotian, ham in hand, complained about the constant talk of global warming.

"This is the Great Lakes Effect. Geography has been taught, but not well enough," Yin Guo murmured beside the toaster, waiting for her slices of bread. "If you come later, it won't be so unlucky."

Initially scheduled to arrive in March and depart in April, her plans were disrupted by Meng Xiaotian's insistence in January. He claimed the need for comprehensive adaptation to the environment in all aspects and seasons. In reality, he aimed to capitalize on Yin Guo's presence, intending to enlist her as a guide for his journey to New York.

Meng Xiaotian, acknowledging his mistake, smirked and said, "Help me get one too."

Yin Guo nods.

"Sister?"

"Hmm?"

"Aren't you going to thank Lin-ge?"

With a click, the slices of bread fell on the silver stainless steel tray.

Yin Guo turned the bread over with a tong and continued to bake: "I want to thank him, but I didn't know what to say."

"There's nothing to say, everyone is Chinese. I'll send his WeChat to you."

Before getting out of the cab that day, Meng Xiaotian thanked him a lot and cheekily asked for Lin Yiyang's WeChat account, establishing a first-line connection.

Yin Guo, lost in thoughts, received Lin Yiyang's WeChat details.

Name: Lin.

With a click, the slices of bread fell again, now baked on both sides.

Yin Guo picked up the slice of bread, took a small box of butter and strawberry jam, and returned to the table by the window. Her cousin noticed that she forgot to bake his bread, calling her three times to no avail, so he had to take matters into his own hands.

Yin Guo placed the plate on the red checkered tablecloth, glancing at Lin Yiyang's WeChat account. She contemplated adding him as a friend but hesitated and decided against it. Setting her phone down, she picked up her fork and immersed herself in scrambled eggs.

Recalling that night, she felt a twinge of unease. When her cousin and the man with glasses returned from the bathroom, they found Lin Yiyang collecting ID cards. The man with glasses teased Yin Guo about wanting to read the information page of the household registration book.

So embarrassing.

After Meng Xiaotian took the food, he returned to Yin Guo, noticing her hesitantly holding a mobile phone. He took it and added Lin Yiyang's WeChat to himself, saying, "What are you afraid of? He's nice and not gonna bite. OK."

As soon as the friend request went through, the other party swiftly accepted.

"Passed." Meng Xiaotian displayed the screen and sent a smile in passing.

Yin Guo snatched the phone back.

Observing Meng Xiaotian's expression on the screen, she sensed the need for a greeting.
