Leia

I will always love you, Leia his words still echoed in my mind. It was all I could hear from last night. How could things change so drastically? Everything was in order, finalized in place yet everything was falling as if crumbling down.

My whole life seemed to have come crumbling down just by a few words. The room had fallen into a terrible silence as the realization has hit about what was happening, yet inside my mind, all there was clatter and chaos.

In the midst of the desolation, memories of our shared moments flooded my mind — his face, the warmth of his smile, and the sweet melodies of our whispered promises. All I could see was him, his voice echoed in my mind, all those lovely words we had shared, the vows of our love, all seemed to have turned into nothing but empty words. How could he have done this to me? Vows that now felt like fragile illusions, promises that had crumbled into nothingness. How could love, so passionately declared, be reduced to nothing but mere echoes in the cold?

I felt so cold, empty, and void in the room even though I was surrounded be people with summer at its peak. The tears flowed freely down my cheeks, a testament to the heartbreak that consumed me. I reached up to wipe them away, with not an ounce of care about the thousand-dollar makeup that was carefully applied layers of makeup that now streaked my face. The pain was too raw, too overwhelming to be masked by the facade of beauty.

The venue, once filled with laughter and anticipation, echoed with the haunting sobs of my shattered dreams. The carefully chosen flowers adorned the tables, but their vibrant colors seemed to mock the grayscale of my emotions. The air was heavy with unspoken words, and the wedding gown that once held the promise of a lifetime now clung to me, drowning me in misery. It was pulling me down.

"She should drink something," I didn't know who it was. "She is in shock."

"How could he do this to her?" Another person.

"I'm scared for her, what if she does something to herself," another voice, another concern.

"What they all did to her was humiliating," humiliation was something I was drowning in.

"Why did they do it all?" The questions were rising. The words of sympathy and concern grew with each ticking second.

"This was horrible of him. How could he and his family do this to her?" I could hear the pity in those voices.

"I heard he loved another," came another voice and every word that fell on my ears tore me down.

Standing up I paced around the room, searching for answers that remained elusive. What had gone wrong? The echoes of his professions of love replayed in my mind, taunting me with their hollowness. How could he have uttered those words, only to leave me standing alone, abandoned at the threshold of forever?

As I gazed at the intricately decorated altar, my mind replayed the scenes leading up to this heart-wrenching moment. The excitement of getting ready, the nervous laughter with my bridesmaids, the shared glances and smiles with family and friends – all now painted with the brushstrokes of betrayal.

My reflection in the mirror showcased a tear-streaked face, the remnants of a once flawless visage now marred by the rawness of heartbreak. The wedding veil seemed like a cruel reminder of the joyous anticipation that had turned into a nightmare.

In that room of shattered dreams, I grappled with the disbelief that such a pivotal moment in my life had crumbled into ruins. The carefully planned vows and the whispered promises now felt like a cruel joke, a mockery of the love that was supposed to endure.

Amid the wreckage of emotions, I clung to the fragments of my shattered heart, desperately trying to make sense of the senseless.

The echoes of his declaration lingered, haunting every corner of my thoughts. Just last night, the air was filled with the promise of forever, and now, in the stark reality of the present, it felt like a cruel joke. The weight of his words pressed against me, suffocating the joy and anticipation that had filled the room only hours before.

As I stood on the other side of that door, his words now seemed to taunt me, a stark contrast to the love they once held. The world I had meticulously built, the plans that were set in stone, now lay shattered at my feet. The silence in the room was deafening, a stark reminder of the void that had replaced the harmonious symphony of our dreams.

"I was jilted at the altar," the thought echoed in my mind, a bitter truth that I couldn't escape. The promises of a shared future had evaporated, leaving me standing alone amidst the ruins of what was meant to be the happiest day of my life. As I grieved the loss of love and the shattered dreams, I couldn't help but wonder how something so certain could crumble so effortlessly, leaving me to pick up the pieces of a life that was no longer whole.

Was this the cost of love?
