CHAPTER TWO

The transferee

Freshman Year (Past)

"SERYOSO?

"Yeah. Why? He's not that bad," komento niya pa kaya napangiwi ako.

"He keeps on talking to me! Hindi naman kami close! Lagi niya pa akong pinagti-trip-an!"

"He's just being friendly." Ger shrugged.

"Well, I don't need a friend!"

"Come on, Shin. That's Dest. You don't have to worry. You're not his type, trust me."

"So, what are you trying to say, Ger?

Speaking of the devil.

"Go away, Dest.

"I brought a peace offering," he said, then he handed me a juice.

I groaned in frustration and glared at him to death.

Junior Year (Present)

"HOW'S your summer vacation in Korea?" Kath asked the moment she saw me.

"Walang bago. Gano'n pa rin naman."

"So, you still don't speak in Korean," she said, disappointment written in her eyes.

"Hey, don't underestimate me. I know the basics." I shove my books in my locker, rolling my eyes as I heard the nonstop comments of Kath about my lack of skills in Korean language. Sometimes, I wondered if she really was my best friend.

"Kahit isang salita man lang, wala talaga? Grabe ka naman!"

"Duh. I said, I know the basics. Are you deaf, Kath?" I said impatiently.

I may have the Korean blood running through my system—slim figure, black hair, small face, v-shaped jaw, pale skin, straight eyebrows, flawless skin, and narrow eyes—but I am really having a hard time learning the Korean language. I knew the basics, though.

She laughed out loud. "Sorry, my mind is full of them." She pointed her finger behind my back. I looked over my shoulder and there I saw P5, the most famous boys here in Kyll High, walking through the hallway.

P stands for Prince, and 5 stands for the number of guys in their group. They're not literally princes, though. People called them that because they're considered as one of the highest, most powerful, and most influential students here in our campus. All students, including the professors, treat them as if they really were princes or something.

Disgust crossed my face with the thought. I don't really see anything special about them.

"Have you heard? Dest transferred to Belle Ville," Kath said as we entered our chemistry class.

Natigilan ako.

Without Dest, it wouldn't be P5 anymore. For the record, he's the leader of P5. Losing him was like losing the entire group. The thought made me happy. I wished they'd just live a low-key life. Without them, there would be no bullies. Kyll High would definitely have the peace I've wanted my whole life.

Napangiti ako bigla at nagkibit-balikat.

I drank the bottled water I was holding.

"But I heard they're recruiting a new member to replace Dest as the 1st Prince." I suddenly spat out the water from my mouth.

I glared at her. "Do you really need to inform me about them? Jesus, Kath."

"Patapusin mo muna kasi ako," she retorted.

"So, as I was saying, there would be an open seat for a new member to replace Dest. And I heard that it would be the transferee."

"Transferee? Really? Who's dumb enough to transfer at this school?" I rolled my eyes. Even I am not a fan of my school and my hometown. I'd really love to live somewhere in Vera or Realgorez, but here I am, stuck in De Grande Town.

"It's Helix Guatamyel."

What the hell?

Another Guatamyel?

I groaned in frustration.

"You heard it right, my friend. He's the older brother of Dest."

I let out a sigh of relief when she said the magic word older. It meant he's in 4th year, and we would never cross paths.

Having Dest as my classmate since freshman year was hell already. I didn't want to deal with another Guatamyel again. Not in my junior year.

I wanted to make the best out of my junior year, and I won't be able to do that if another Guatamyel got in the way again.
