I'd never get rid of this

Nothing comforts
Like a blanket

Worm
Cozy
Happy

It's never time to move on

Dreams are made through that blanket
Happy ones
Sad ones
You get through them

As little kids
You never let that blanket go
You called it blanky

You called your teddy bear Daffodil R Snuggles
Your stuffed dog Sleep Dog
You call your microwaveable lion your lion
Only your lion
Only your sleep dog
Only your daffodil
Only your blanky
Can keep you safe

They say
"You're older now, get rid of them!"

You don't listen

They say
"I don't use them, why do you need them?"

You don't answer

They say
"You still sleep with a blanky?"

You cry

They make fun of you

You cry harder

They hurt you

You scream

Nobody comes.

You run home

To your blanky
And your lion
And your sleep dog
And your Daffodil Snuggles

You feel safe

Even though you are almost a teenager

You can have these things

You are you

Don't let anyone take that away from you

But they did
Didn't they?

You let them tear you down

You let them hurt you

Because you knew

When you got home

They would be there

To keep you safe

Just like everyone else

The ones that beat you

They still have their things
That they'll never get rid of

So you know that it's all going to be okay in the end.
