During Percy's disappearance
Sometimes when no one was looking, Annabeth would sneak into the Poseidon Cabin and climb into Percy's bed. His sheets smelt like the ocean and Annabeth could imagine that he was still next to her. She would let down her walls and remember the time Percy came to save her from Atlas and the time he gate-crashed his own funeral. Then when his pillow was dampening from her silent, falling tears, the daughter of Athena remembered their first kiss. The one underwater, the moment she had felt the happiest she had felt in years.
