"Now, which one of you boys came up with this...plan?"

I stood beside Faris and the rest of the boys in my Latin class.

Instead of trying to fit us all in the principal's office, he'd gathered us in the court yard outside.

Summer was dwindling away, which did nothing to improve the situation and I hastily stuffed my hands in my pockets.

"It was all of us, sir," someone peeped from my left.

I heard an echo of agreement from the other boys.

The principal's eyes scanned every boy in his sight before giving a curt nod. "Fine. Detention, after hours, all of you."

Some grumbled.

"Unless the real mastermind behind this ingenious plan steps forward and takes full responsibility."

Almost everyone began looking around.

No one stepped forward.

"All right, detention it is."

After a few more minutes of a torturing lecture, we were dismissed.

Cameron joined Faris and I as we headed to our next class.

"This sucks."

"I doubt anyone's stepping up after what just happened."

"What do you think they'll have us do?" Faris asked.

Cameron rolled his eyes. "Of course you've never had detention before."

I tried not to let Faris's crestfallen expression get to me. "Probably write an essay on where we went wrong."

He groaned. "Great."

"Hey, maybe they'll let you write it in Arabic."

We both glared at Cameron, who raised his arms up in defense. "Jeez, it was just an idea."

Faris sighed. "I left something in my dorm. I'll catch up with you later."

I stared after him, guilty and worried at the same time.

Then I punched Cameron's shoulder. Hard.

"What the hell?" he yelped, grabbing at the sore spot.

"You deserved that and you know it," I stated.

"I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Yeah, and Fin didn't suck me off yesterday."

"What?"

"What?"

Cameron remained silent after that. "I am an asshole. Fuck, I don't even know where I went wrong. It just happened."

"Explain."

We walked into an almost empty classroom, taking the seats at the back.

"I mean, we were fine a few days ago. Until...until I said something and Faris gave me this look like I'd just insulted his mom."

I winced. "What did you just say?"

He looked away, mumbling.

"Wait, what?" I asked, leaning towards him.

"I said...I told him I wasn't into guys."

"That doesn't sound that bad. Except, you know, it was a total lie."

He looked as if I'd punched him again. "I kissed him."

"What?"

"I kissed him before I said that. I just blurted it out...Kaiden, you should've seen his face. I don't think I ever hurt him as much as I did back then."
