Prologue

The little boy sat in one corner of the garden, his back towards the world. He was lost in his thoughts, sulking, but not oblivious to the tinkling of bells his friend's footfall made as she approached him.
"Go away, leave me alone," he commanded, stiffening as he felt her small hand on hid shoulder.
"Never," she said simply, and sat down beside him, with a melodious giggle. She placed her head on his shoulder and they both just stared at the pretty artificial fountain in front of them. And just like that all became wonderful in his world again.
