"Oh my God that was so badass!" Ally gushed walking up to Ella.

"Was it that bad?" Ella cringed at the thought of making a scene. It was the last thing she wanted or needed. The less attention they gathered the better.

"Bad? No, sweetie, it was awesome! Everyone was impressed. Honestly, I don't know why mom invited her, she was never that nice or anything."

Giving a small smile in reply, Ella watched as Kyle mingled and laughed with his friends.

"I take it it wasn't your idea to come to the weekend?"

"No, it was. He didn't want to be here but I convinced him to go."

"I'm guessing he told you?"

"Told me?" Confused, she let her eyes sweep back to his sister.

"Yeah, about dad and him and the rift." She nonchalantly threw the words out there.

"Ah. Yes, he did. On the car ride here actually." Ally shook her head.

"Typical Kyle," she huffed. "He never does anything except last minute." Not knowing how to reply she filled her mouth with the cool refreshing liquid and studied everyone around her.

She was way out of her league. All the females were dressed with articles that cost over 500 dollars each. They had full make up on and oozed rich, powerful, and snobby all at once. It wasn't that she didn't come from money, because she certainly had a lot of it, but she didn't think to bring so much of her designer clothes with her. And besides rich knew rich. If she would have worn her $250 boots as opposed to the $50 ones she got on sale, Kyle would have definitely known she wasn't the actual girl he hired.

"So Ally, are you single?"

"Woah Ella I didn't know you swung both ways." Smiling, Ella rolled her eyes and laughed, attracting the attention of others around her.

"I like you Ally. You and I will get along just fine. Excuse me." Giving Allison a side smile, she bottled up her courage and walked over to Kyle, making sure to play the part of the madly in love girlfriend.

"Babe." She let the word roll off her tongue before giving him a loving smile and leaning into his arm.

"Hey." Kyle quickly caught on and lowered to her ear level.

"I like the little entrance. Good thinking."

"Guys, this is Ella, my girlfriend." Instantly Kyle knew that was a big mistake on his part. His friends knew he didn't have a girlfriend, especially his best friend. One look at their faces confirmed his fears as they all had skeptical looks.

"Girlfriend? Really?" Ella tucked a wisp of hair behind her ear and put her head down. She didn't recognize the guy in front of her which didn't help ease her nerves.

"Yes," she said after clearing her throat. "I asked him not to say anything and to keep it on the downlow."

"Why? I would assume most women would be ecstatic to flaunt their millionaire boyfriends to the world." If it weren't for the mischievous twinkle in his eyes she'd think he was attacking her.

"Well I guess that's where you went wrong."

"Wrong?" He gave her the one eyebrow raised look. Ella grinned.

"Yes wrong. You see, I'm not most girls." Shaking his head, she watched as he chuckled.

"Fiesty and witty. I like this one. Kyle, do you mind if I walk around the room with Ella?" He didn't even bother looking at Kyle and didn't wait for a confirmation. He had offered her his arm and before nodding to Kyle, she placed her hand in its crook.

A safe distance away from the boys Max turned to her and studied her. She wasn't bad looking to say the least. At least he got one that had brains.

"I'm Max Weston, Kyle's best friend." Shaking his hand they kept their arms to their selves and opted to just walk side by side.

"Nice to meet you, Max."

"Kyle and I grew up together. We've been friends since the age of 5. He and I pretty much did everything together. We went to the same college, same group of friends, heck almost the same grades."

"That's nice."

"Yeah, he's like a brother to me, not just my best friend. For that reason I'll do it." She thought she misheard.

"Do what?" Truly his story wasn't really relevant but it did help her get some insider knowledge.

"I'll help you guys sell the girlfriend thing."

"I'm not sure I follow. I'm not selling anything." The conversation wasn't really going in a good direction and looking for Kyle, he didn't seem to even be paying attention to them or worried that his best friend was grilling her.

"Ella, I am the one who gave him the agency number to hire a girlfriend." She felt her heart drop. They were in trouble. "Don't worry, I'm not going to tell anyone."

"Thank you," she meekly responded. It was a little comforting to know that he would help keep their charade going on for the length of the trip but at the same time she knew she couldn't fully trust he'd keep their arrangement a secret and not tell a single soul.

"So, Ella. How come you and I have never crossed paths before?" Giving him an amused look, she returned to studying the other guests.

"Do you mean to tell me you've met every single female in the city and I'm the only one you've never encountered?" With a goofy smile he shook his head.

"No. I mean I've met all the women at the agency and you were never one of them. Believe me I'd remember you." She felt her heart rate take a spike up. Keeping her emotions and expressions in check, she coolly glanced back at Max.

"You must have needed a lot of girlfriends."

"Meh. Not really, but they are all clients of mine."

"Well, since you are dying to know. I'm new. This is my first gig per say."

"Cool. I think it best we go back to your knight. His parents are boring holes in your head." Nodding, they strolled back towards Kyle.

"There you go. All in one piece." Kyle worriedly glanced between her and Max questioning if he knew she knew and if in fact he really did know. Wordlessly she gave a discreet nod in reply.

"What was that about?" Both turning to the sound of Ally's voice they plastered on a fake smile and played dumb.

"What was what?" Ally gave them her mastered I'm-not-dumb and don't-try-to-deny-it look.

"You know what look. The one Kyle just gave you and that you nodded at." Sighing, Ella suddenly felt tired. If it was one thing she hated it was lying and in a span of a few hours she had successfully done so multiple times. Which of course was funny considering she'd lied from the beginning and only a couple hours ago agreed to lie for a couple of more days. She was stupid for taking on the fake identify of the other girl and not telling him he had the wrong chick. But her best friend's words wrung in her ears and Ella thought maybe this would be a good chance to start fresh a new page in her life.

"Fine, fine. We were tired and he was checking with me if I was too so we could leave to rest before supper." Allison looked at her like she had grown two heads.

"You knap before dinner?"

"No, but it's been a long drive and I thought it best get some beauty sleep before enduring at least an hour of your brother and very posh guests."

"Ohhhh ok. Yeah I know Kyle is a handful. Don't worry about mom and dad I'll tell them. Besides I'm sure you're not the only ones." Linking her arm in Kyle's, Ella thanked his little sister before all but running out of the room.

She was lucky Ally was on their side and helping them out. But her helping out had nothing to do with their sleeping arrangement as they both realized that they'd have to master the one eye closed one eye open thing in case someone walked in on Kyle taking the couch and her the bed.
