gone blind

Char. Char. Char.
What a pretty name. Just pretty as you.
Our conversation was very pointless that day. Although we had nothing going on between us and we were extremely awkward whilst talking, I felt like everyone was silent, trying to listen in.
"Char. Short for anything?"
"Charlotte," you said.
"Kind of guessed so," I answered.
"Then why did you ask?" you questioned.
"I needed an excuse to talk to you," I replied.
You were quiet for a few seconds. "Are you feeling okay?"
"Yes," I said. "Although, your beauty is sort of disorienting."
I didn't even think before I said it, but once it escaped my lips, I felt my cheeks redden.
You blinked at me, your lips in a straight line. "Seriously, I think you're sick."
"Why is that?" I asked.
"I'm not beautiful," you stated.
A surge of sympathy and anger flushed my veins. How could you not see what was visible to everyone else? Or me, at least?
I laughed softly. "You might want to see an eye doctor. I think you've gone blind."
