Golden & Warm

Told by MistickMage

I was five. It was raining outside. We were eating dinner. I ran out the back door and was twirling around in the rain when in happened. All I remember was something bright, like lightning, landing right next to me for the briefest second. I ran inside crying, and told my parents, and they said I had imagined it, they hadn't seen any lightning. That's when it started.

I was in fourth grade. We were sitting on top of a high play structure, talking. Suddenly my world lurched and I was standing, perfectly fine on the bark chips. I've jumped from there before, and it hurt. And I felt no pain. I felt nothing. My friends say I fell, but I know better.

I had been sick. I was having a dream about some sea monster of something. Then suddenly the dream shifted. My fourth grade teacher was at a table, and she told me "Since you've been sick, you need to take the reading assessment." The next day, the teacher took me aside and told me the exact thing. The only thing that was different was the table we were sitting at.

I'm not sure when it started. A feeling inside of me. A glow. The best way I can describe it is "Warm and Golden" I can control it. Sometimes it fills me. Sometimes, despite my best efforts, I can't call it up. I run cross-country, and when I sprint to the finish it fills me. It gives me a final push of energy.

Now, things have been happening with alarming speed. Pets of mine have lived years past when they should. I had a fish that lived six years. Plants that shouldn't survive do when I take care of them. Everything I do seems to work better then other peoples. I'm talented in music and art, but also in advanced math and science.

What has happened to me? Why is this golden light inside?
