Ser vs Estar

To be vs to be? Most are confused when  they find out Spanish has two words for "to be". This post explains when to use ser or estar when speaking or writing in Spanish.

• Ser is used for what something is, which are permanent things, estar is used for how something is, which are temporary things

Example: ¡Estoy muy feliz!
Emotions are temporary so you would use estoy (estar) instead of soy (ser) unless you are describing yourself as a happy person.
