Emily and River met in Miami, where they had the best time of their lives, but it wasn't meant to be: the next morning, Emily leaves for San Francisco, leaving both their hearts broken. They didn't think they'd ever see each other again.
Emily goes back to the privileged life with her parents. There, a plan is set up for her to marry Jason in order to save the business of both their parents.
River remains in Miami with his little sister, while struggling to provide a living for them both.
But against all expectations, Emily and River meet again a few months later... On her wedding day.

This is my entry for the Open Novella Contest 2019. It's my first time entering this contest and I'm secretly super hyped about it.
And yes, I'm finally moving on from my short story phase. Here's a novella for you! xD
This story being a part of ONC also means I have to publish it while I'm still writing it. That makes me so nervous because I can't update regularly and I already know I'm making some people really mad because of that. It's also a first draft, so there will be many mistakes. This book will be far from perfect because of all these reasons, but hopefully you'll still enjoy it!
This story is also based on a short story I wrote once and that I have published in Everything I Wanted to Say But Never Did. I loved that story and it was one of the short stories I found hard to part with, so to be able to make a novella out of it secretly makes me really happy.
I'm not a native, so don't hesitate to correct me about grammar, spelling or just wrong assumptions. It would really help me out!
And all comments would make me really happy, so don't hesitate to leave any :) Voting is okay too! It just means the world to know someone's enjoying something I worked so hard on.
And FYI: this book is available for offline reading. It does have some pictures, but those are often banners that you don't need to have seen to understand the story (they're added because they're cute). This first chapter is an exception with pictures of the cast, but not necessary to understand the story either.
