Renesmee was pacing back and forth, unable to find her place. Her fingers were tangled in her hair and if she didn't stop tugging on it, soon she would have no hair to tug on.

The young hybrid was panicking. Ever since she had realised that she was attracted to the opposite sex, she was terrified of her imprinter's reaction. If Jacob found out, then hell would break loose.

She had come out to her parents recently and surprisingly, they had been more supportive than she had expected them to be, especially her father, who was so old-fashioned.

Her extended family was about to learn soon. But first, she had to tell Jacob. If she told her grandpa and his new wife, then they would tell Seth and Leah, who would tell Jacob. So it was best if she told the shapeshifter first before.

She was hoping that he wouldn't overreact. Ever since she had learnt the history he had had with her mother years ago, she had realised that the imprinting meant that everyone expected her and Jacob to have a romantic relationship and to even start a family as well. Especially her mother. If Renesmee was an obedient little girl and married Jacob, then he and Bella could pretend that their failed romance was nonexistent.

But Renesmee was smarter than that. She had figured out by herself that she had been imprinted on. Like a grown adult, she had had deep conversations with her family and Jacob, instead of throwing a tantrum. Jacob seemed understanding at the beginning. It didn't seem like a big deal that she knew about the imprinting. But what about now that she was actually into girls? How would he react?

The sound of a motorbike approaching the cottage snapped the hybrid out of her thoughts. She could feel her face flushing as her heartbeat accelerated. Jacob was already here. It was too soon - she wasn't ready yet!

She quickly began taking deep breaths and doing an exercise with her hands that her uncle Jasper had taught her. She didn't want to end up having a panic attack in front of him.

Renesmee could not open her mouth to speak. Millions of thoughts were racing through her mind. What if Jacob got so upset that he shifted in front of her and clawed her face the way Sam Uley had done to his bride Emily? Or what if he insulted her? Or hit her?

Renesmee knew she had to open the door, but she couldn't move an inch from her bed. Thankfully, Bella had been the one to open the door to invite Jacob in, telling him that the hybrid was in her room.

Frankly, the hybrid couldn't move or turn to Jacob, even when he greeted her. She couldn't dare to face him. Why had she even called him in the first place then?

She had to be honest with him. She had no other choice. He would find out eventually and it would be best if it was from her and not from someone from the pack or her extended family.

"Hey?" he called and occupied the space next to her on the bed.

It was then when she finally faced him. She took another deep breath before she mumbled a greeting.

Jacob raised his eyebrow. "What's up? You told me you needed to tell me something important?"

Renesmee's gaze focused again on her fingers which she was playing with. It was now or never. Was it too late to back off and to lie?

It was. He would know that something was wrong. He knew her too well for her own good and bad.

At first, he thought nothing of the young girl's silence, until he could see that she was struggling to speak up.
"Hey, hey," Jacob attempted to soothe his imprint, "You can show me."

He knew that Renesmee was shy and having panic attacks due to childhood traumas didn't help.

"I like girls," she murmured, instead. She didn't feel ready to expose too much with her traitor palms. Her words were enough. She didn't need to trigger Jacob even further by showing him images of the girl she had a crush on.

Jacob was stunned. And how could he not be? That was when he realized Renesmee was terrified of his reaction. She knew about his past with Bella and how he had attempted to force himself on her. After hearing that story, she could only imagine what could happen to her.

She was bracing herself for him to attack her for not feeling anything romantic towards him, but his next reaction surprised her instead.

Without hesitation, he grabbed her in a tight hug that he imagined she needed at the moment. And that was when the tears violently ran down her face and wailing escaped from her mouth. She hadn't cried even when she had told her parents about her crush on a girl from her school.

Jacob was rubbing his imprintee's back, trying to calm her down. He hadn't met anyone who was attracted to people from the same gender as theirs, so he could only imagine how she felt.

"Do your parents know about this?", the shapeshifter asked. He grew worried about what were Bella and Edward's thoughts on all of this.

"Mhm," mumbled the hybrid, when she calmed down a little. She reached out to touch his bare arm to show him how the conversation with her parents had gone. Jacob exhaled in relief when he saw the reaction of her parents.

Jacob would never hate anyone for their beliefs and feelings unless he thought they could harm people around them. He knew Renesmee the best - she meant nothing bad towards her family or other people from her world. She simply couldn't help but be sexually attracted to girls.

"I know I've done shady things in the past, but I grew up and I changed," he began to reassure her, "I will never hurt you the way I hurt your mother," He stopped himself to think what to say next. He wanted to be as clear and as careful as possible, not wanting to make his imprint feel even worse, "Or anyone else, for that matter."

Renesmee was gazing at him with eyes full of tears. She had never heard him speak to her like that.

He continued without hesitation, "I can understand that you have felt afraid because of what you've been told about the past, but know that people change. They grow up, they get life experience and they become better people," he held her hands and gave them a light squeeze to reassure her. Squeezing each other seemed to be their thing. Whenever Jacob hugged Renesmee, she would squeeze him, but not to show off how strong she was. It was to show him that she cared about him, that she saw him as someone she could trust.

"I want you to know that you can always come to me and talk to me. You can trust me."

The tears ran down Renesmee's face again. But they were no longer of betrayal. Hearing Jacob say this to her exceeded her expectations. She thought that her little secret would break apart their relationship forever. And she didn't want to lose him.

Now that he knew the truth, she imagined they would become even closer. She now felt confident that she could confide in him the way she had as a child.

As more tears ran down her face, she couldn't help but throw her arms around him.

"Thank you," she sobbed in his chest, "Thank you!"
