More power

I awoke around midday the following day but as I awoke I screamed, Damon was there in a flash, I saw him

"Help me" I told him, I was floating literally floating in the air

"Ok you need to calm down"

"I can't calm down, please help me" I cried and shouted, at the same time

"Anastasia, if you calm down you can get down, just close your eyes, and imagine yourself on the ground, that's all you have to do" I tried and it worked "You did it" I heard Damon whisper in my ear, it sent a shock down my spine and it gave me goosebumps.

I had a new power and I realised all I had to do was think about flying and I could, I went up, down, and even did a loop di loop, I felt like superman, it was great all I needed now was laser vision and x-ray vision, then I'd be superman.

I could fly, I went outside to try out my new power and it felt amazing I could fly higher than the houses, higher than the trees. I found that if I went too high the air was thinner and it made breathing harder, but soon flying became second nature, I didn't really need to think about it, I could just jump and off I went, it was thrilling, I even took Damon with me, we flew for hours around the coven,

"All you need now is a broom" Damon joked

"And a pointy hat" I laughed

"That too, yes" Damon nodded

I flew to the library the following day to return 'kidnapped' I decided I wanted another book, this time I chose a different author and a different genre, I chose horror, which wasnt far from thriller, like the first book, but horror was my favourite, I loved how ghosts were scary, and there were demons, and scary witches that cursed you, it made me laugh, for some reason this had always made me laugh, even before I knew I was a witch, now I knew why.

The librarian was amazed to see me so quickly, but nodded in greeting, I nodded back. I chose a book called second nature, and blinked home, yes I could've flown but decided to blink.

As soon as I got home I felt danger, not exactly danger but I knew something was wrong.

"DAMON" I shouted, I couldn't hear him, I was worried, I ran into the kitchen, "Damon?" Not there, I blinked upstairs into the bedroom, not here either, tears ran down my face, I blinked into the hallway again, near the front door, but the living room door opened, it was Damon

"Hey...." before he could say anything I caught him in a bone crushing hug, still crying

"I couldn't hear your heart, I was worried" I sniffed

"I'm a vampire" Damon commented, something clicked inside my head and I let go of him

"Oh" my face burned but Damon just smirked "What's Thomas doing here?" I asked needing to change the subject

"Ahhh, well, he wants to see you" Damon winked putting his arm around me he walked me into the living room "Here she is" he announced then said to me "this is going to be epic" he winked in the end, he was liking this a little too much, whilst I stood in the doorway trying to figure out what was going on, Damon sat on the couch drink in hand, one leg crossed over the other at the knee, Thomas stood by the couch facing me, he had gotten up when he had seen me.

"Hello Anastasia"

"What do you want?" I asked, wanting him to get to the point so I could get rid of him

"There is a rumour circulating the coven and I need to know if it's true" I nodded at him to tell him to carry on "Some people claim they have seen you fly" he laughed

"Its true" I told him quickly, a little bored now, and I didn't want to hear his stupid laugh

"Well, that is impossible, flying is a very rare power...."

"Are you calling me a liar?" I fumed

"No, it's just, there is only one person in this whole coven that has the power to fly"

"Let me guess, you?" I crossed my arms across my chest, this was typical only he could have rare powers, no one else was worthy enough

"Actually, no, it's Gerald, he's on the council, the fact that he can fly is the reason he's on the council" he shrugged and I laughed he couldn't fly, and he was annoyed that I could

"Wait for it" Damon commented I looked at him squinting

"Is there anything else?" I asked Thomas

"Yes, one more thing, you are not allowed to fly anymore"

"There it is" Damon was excited he put both his arms up above his head, like he was on a roller coaster

"Excuse me?" I could not believe what I was hearing

"When I found out that Gerald can fly, I asked him to join the council, so naturally people are going to want you to join too, so if you stop flying people won't want you to join, we'll pretend you can't fly" he explained

"You want me to stop flying to fulfil your stupid agenda? No, I will not stop, maybe I should join the council instead" Thomas laughed at that, his laugh made me angry, ready to break some bones, I clenched my hand

"Good, I'm glad you said that, that was a test, Anastasia, and you passed, would you do us the honur and join the council, the coven will do well with you on the council" I unclenched my hand, not really believing my ears, I looked towards Damon, who looked just as amazed as I did

"But you said women had no place on the council" I reminded him

"If the gods favour you, who am I to stand in their way?" Thomas asked

"What's the catch?" I asked crossing my arms defensively

"No catch, well except one" here we go, I thought "we shall stop this fighting we have going, I have nothing against you, and we should start this with a clean slate" he shrugged, was he for real, was what I was thinking "we have a meeting at 2pm on Saturday, if you want to be on the council be there, otherwise ..... well it's up to you" that was all he said, with that he left.

Damon and I discussed it for well over an hour, do I join? Or do I not? If I join, I could change the backward believing of this coven, help them understand that women can be just as powerful as men, but does that mean I give up my freedom? What if rules are that I have to do what he says, when he says? I don't want to be his personal slave, but if I don't join I can't help these people, and I'll never know what could've been.
