LOVING HEADING DOWNWARD

Head onward
Head onward, hand-in-hand
Head southward and onward
Head onward as rays of light
Head toward the equator…

Summer winds through the four seasons
Land baked dry and cracking
Sun as hot as fire
The currents between our hands grow by leaps and bounds
Toward the equator

Me reclining
I am a piece of warm, sandy beach  
You are the ocean, lying on the sandy beach
An expansive, flat ocean
Waves stroking golden sand
The beach embraces the ocean
 
Generation upon generation
Like rivers rushing toward the sea
In this sacred land
Watching as the morning sun rises from your chest
Seeing the light waves mirroring your joyful hours
Let the ocean wind blow the breaths of your spirit
Listening to the tides echoing from the bottom of your heart
Repeating in every moment
The promises made between you and me along the way
