I SO YEARN FOR THAT KIND OF TIME

I set off in my yacht
Your finger on the watery horizon
The yacht flies toward the ocean
The sandy beach gradually growing distant and then disappearing
We are in a free land
Where only you and I exist
I so yearn for that kind of time

The boat sways upon the surface of the sea
While clouds meander across blue skies
I sit in the bow, and you sit at the aft
On all sides are horizons
The sun gleams down upon us both
You in my eyes and I in yours
I so yearn for that kind of time

The ocean reflects the sky’s bright light
We carefully count the milestones of a lifetime
The dreams of youth and the perplexity of reality
Those times of hills and valleys, sweet and sour, gain and loss
And there still is yesterday, today, and tomorrow
I describe my past windblown road
You pour out the myriad bumps and hills along your way
We both are lecturers without an end to our words
We both are tirelessly happy listeners
I so yearn for that kind of time

Our legs kiss beneath the water
On the surface the splashing arcs grow, then disappear
We hum tunes and sing love songs
Watching the white clouds in their confident procession
Watching the seabirds soaring freely
Laughter splintering into gleaming beams
I so yearn for that kind of time

Red is the western sky
We kiss and embrace each other, intoxicated
The setting sun sends a sliver of evening light
Winds from the sea blow through your long hair
The most beautiful of all are the scenes we create together
I so yearn for that kind of time
