LOVE UPON THE COASTLINE

Born on the coast
Far from human affairs
Mind of the purest water
Heart of an expansive ocean
With the curved body of the sandy beach
In Early morning, I welcome the first sliver of dawn light
As evening nears, I see the last of the setting sun
Never having left the coastline

I have met many a person who came to watch the sea
And I have had my share of love
It is strange; they were not sweet love
Until I met her
And just like me, she too
In one glance, found sparks igniting

It has already been many years
But we are still at the early stages of love
It is not that we do not understand the other
But because of that unwavering, childish naivety
That deep and grasping love
Those sweet and tender feelings
And those granular , delicate affections
And those fluctuating, throbbing thoughts

Waking up every morning
Without ever waking from that dream
Day and night are all the same
The coming night brings that dream again
Two people share one dream
One life and one dream

The setting sun is heading westward
Just two sets of footprints
Playing with the long, white shoreline
Blowing in the ocean breeze, listening to the ocean rhythms, gazing at the moon and stars
I am infected by the ocean’s temperament
I love you, like the sound of waves passing over a hundred miles
I hug you, like the tides lapping forward, time and time again
Lifting your black hair, as if a long wind were blowing it askew

No matter what season it might be
One’s heart is calm as the ocean
One’s emotions are soft as water
Like the ocean and the sandy beach
Hand in hand along the road onward
With many more scenes ahead
Illuminated by the sun
Endless ocean horizons of love
