A Special Kind Of Love?

Chapter 17

[Serena POV]

I walked through the forest path as I made my way toward Ash's house. It was almost dark so I had to hurry, mom said I have to return before 10 and it was already 8:46! And not to mention how much time I'll be staying there. 

It was dark so I was a little cautious, but then I saw a light and walking further I identified him as Infernape, I smiled and ran up to him. He noticed me and smiled back. "Infernape can you walk with me to Ash's house it's pretty dark now.." I requested he nodded happily and lead me to his house.

I thanked him and walked up to the door. It was already open means Ash was in and why not, who roams in the forest at night? But when I entered I saw a Lucario standing in the living room, he saw me and took a stance.

I knew qsh didn't have a Lucario that means someone was in his house. He must have had Ash up his room and let his Lucario for watch. I was scared, I took a step back slowly. But the Lucario didn't attack instead he observed me.

Suddenly his eyes widened as if he realized something. He moved forward slowly only for me to back up, I kept on going until I was trapped in front of the wall. Lucario came up to me and held up his paw. I stared at him still terrified and tried to think what was happening.

My gaze turned to his paw and noticed he had his claws were retracted meaning he didn't mean harm. Slowly I relaxed but still kept my eye on him. He then backed up and ran to a bag that was kept near the couch. He opened it up and started searching for something.

I was confused now and walked forward to see what he was doing. Then he took out a book, or an album to be precise. He started turning the pages furiously.

After turning like a dozen pages he found something and turned the album to me. I inspected what he wanted to show and I found a picture. It was from our junior highschool picture day, and I was also in that picture. I gasped lightly as I realized there was Ash too. I looked at Lucario for something else and he took the album to find another picture.

Next he showed me a picture of our field trip, the one we did next year, we had been given a task to find different kinds of Pokemon and note down their info on the sheet. We all had a Pokemon partner with ourselves to work with.

It was a picture of Ash and hilbert, a boy who had left Kalos the same year due to some reason. Both had their Pokemon with them, Pikachu and Riolu. I kept looking at the picture until it clicked me.

I snapped my eyes towards Lucario as he smiled widely at me! My eyes were wide as realization struck me! "Lucario! It's you! Oh my god, you've grown up!" I cheered, I gave a tight hug to him which he returned back. Hilbert was out friend and was a nice boy. He was very responsible and always sorted their disputes.

My old friend Hilda had a crush on him but never got the courage to say. When he left she was very sad. After he left the rumors started to occur which everyone including me thought were true, the rumors about Ash. 

Since it was junior high we never talked much with boys and so we didn't know them that well and it didn't affect us that Ash was a friend of us. By the time we started to hang out with the boys, he was already labeled as the outcast and everyone hated him.

I then realized that I had still not seen Ash and now hilbert too. "Where is Hilbert? I asked, Lucario gestured up and acted like he was bathing. I got the idea that he might be in the shower.

"And Ash?" This time he motioned towards the door. I sweatdropped as just before entering I had made a comment as who would go out in the forest at night.

I sighed and turned back to Lucario with a smile, he was also very happy to see me after such a long time. I moved my hand and placed it on his cheeks, his fur was a little rough, but what to expect from a battler. I stroked his fur and giggled as he enjoyed the touch.

I didn't think he would have remembered me when he was so young then. I called out Braixen and introduced her to him but I think it wasn't needed because soon after she saw him she froze as if she saw a celebrity.

Obviously, she had seen him before when she was just a fennekin. I noticed her cheeks had turned bright and she was trying to avoid eye contact when Lucario conversed with her. Realization hit me, as I smiled internally.

"Y'know Lucario? Braixen really likes you!" I chimed in as both turned to me, Lucario was surprised and Braixen… well she was flustered, she gave me a death glare before turning in embarrassment as Lucario turned back. It was so amusing I laughed so hard.

"Lucario? Is someone down there?" We heard a voice from the upper level and I knew it was Hilbert.

"Hilbert?" I called out, "huh?!" We heard some loud and quick footsteps on the stairs and soon he was down.

He saw me and paused for a moment, he looked confused and I just looked at him. Then he's eyes widened and I chuckled as his face went from 'who the hell are you?!' to 'oh my god! It's you!' in a few seconds. 

"Serena?!" He asked astonished , I nodded gleefully. "Oh my god! How are you?" He said as he came in for a hug. "I'm great! How about you?" I said returning the hug.

He backed up and spread his hands apart, "as best as I could be." He said with a smile and I laughed. 

"What are you doing here?" 

"I came back just yesterday, and I was staying at the Pokemon centre where I met Ash and he invited me to stay here." 

"Oh that's good!"

"What about you?"

"What about me?" I asked not getting his point.

"Well I came to know everything about him as I met  my other friends too and I get that things weren't as good as I left. So, its surprising he has a girlfriend." He said teasingly.

I blushed as I thought we still hadn't thought about that. "I'm not his girlfriend!" I countered back.

"Sure, no girl drops at a guys at late night for no reason." He teased and I swear if he kept going I'd blow up. Behind me I heard Braixen snickering. I turned back with a glare.

"Shut up Braixen!" I yelled softly, Hilbert saw Braixen and he lit up. "Hey is that your Fennekin?! She's grown so big!" He exclaimed as he went forward to meet her. He stroked her head looked back at me.

"I see you still love grooming your Pokemon, her fur is so soft and silky!" He smiled , "thank you!" 

"Also before I forget and it's too late," I did as I quickly dig in my bag which I had brought with me, I took out a small box, "here.. I brought these for Ash but he isn't here and it's getting too late for me. It's a keystone holder cap and a mega stone strap for his Charizard. His old one was wearing off and since he likes to swing his cap while battling I figured it would be good to add a keystone pocket. I made them myself." I told as he took the box from me.

"Definitely, not his girlfriend?" He asked with amusing confusion. I hit him on his arm as  he laughed, I huffed out some air in annoyance.

"I should get going it's getting too late mom's going to scold me." I said as I returned Braixen and reached for the door. "See you later."

"How are you going to get home alone?"

"Oh I'll find one of Ash's Pokemon who can walk me out of the forest."

"Well you can just go with Lucario."

"Oh yeah, thanks."

"No problem, Lucario go with her and make sure she's safe. While I wait here and see what Ash has to say about his girlfriend."

"You! Lucario do me a favor and punish him if he says anything to Ash about me!"

Lucario nodded, as Hilbert yelled, "hey you can't turned my Pokemon against me!"

"Well good bye, see you later." I said and both me and Lucario ran off laughing, leaving a shouting hilbert at home.
