Soulmates
On one's 16th birthday, a mark appears on their wrist, perfectly matching with another one. There is no pair of mark that is alike another. If you found the person that perfectly matches your mark, their your soulmate.
Once you've fallen in love with your soulmate, an additional mark appears on their wrist. Unfortunately, that additional mark may fade, which means their soulmate had died or, is rejecting your bond.
The reason of the mark fading is more likely because of the other half dying. It is because people believed that once you've found your soulmate, it is true love and will never cease.
