Kunti served rishi durvasa with great dedication. The sage was very happy with her, so before departing he rewarded kunti by teaching her the mantra which enables a woman to evoke any God of her choice other than tridev and tridevi to get children by them. He also warned her not to use the mantra before her marriage but out of impetuous curiosity, she invoked suryadev. He blessed her with suryadev son and he grant him with kavach and kundal. Kunti decided to choose her father's dignity rather than her son life. She put him in a basket and afloat him in ganga river.
