Homeostasis

I turn myself in to sleep,

For yet another day.

Another number of hours spent,

A few trickles of the hourglass,

Now through the threshold,

That keeps them together.

I fall asunder,

Through eternity.

I think to myself,

How mighty blessed are we,

As humans.

How life has been granted to us,

In a perfect balance,

A harmonious existence

Bathed delicately in grace,

And Chaos.

We spend our lives,

Coveting past hours,

Harboring ill intentions,

Towards the continuous taxing,

Of father time.

All the while,

Politics ensue in our minds,

A vicious cycle develops,

Heaven and earth collide,

In the intimacy of our minds,

And yet,

Time is taxed regardless.

A gaping hole in our daily lives is created,

By us and us alone.

You see, everything given,

Our sentience,

Our awareness,

That which is blissfully attained from conception,

Is perfectly in tune with nature,

Balance in an everlasting circle of life,

That even if perfectly etched,

Within the ecosystem of our creation,

It will surely dissipate,

Into the air one day.

Our emotions and feelings,

All fleeting,

All ever changing,

All so complex

So simple,

A big nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Time itself, manifested in our lives,

Lies neatly aligned with our tolerance,

In a way,

There is no such thing as eternal happiness,

Then one man can tolerate without opposition,

Without growth.

There is no such thing as eternal pain,

That one man can withstand,

Without a brief season

Of fresh air.

The mightiest wind cannot last forever.

The most beautiful summer day

Only lasts for hours at a time.

Finite life,

Without periodic change,

Becomes as dull as a rusty sword.

A beautiful morning,

A delicate evening sun,

Loses its value if seen for eternity,

Without seasons of rain and wind,

Dancing in between.

The fact that we live,

Amongst the stinging pain,

Of a wildfire,

And,

The soothing trance,

Of a gentle evening rain,

Makes life itself worth living.

Life is in a delicate balance.

And we have the beautiful task,

To live it truthfully.

Earnestly

All the while,

I turn myself in to sleep,

For yet another day,

Another number of hours spent,

A few trickles of the hourglass,

Now through the threshold,

That keep them together.

I fall asunder,

Through eternity.

I think to myself,

How mighty blessed are we,

As humans,

How life has been granted to us,

In a perfect balance,

A harmonious existence,

Bathed delicately in grace,

And Chaos.
