When Nie AnAn stepped foot inside the Nie's, Mother Nie, Father Nie, and Grandpa Nie were all in the living room. Nie ChengFeng tossed the car key up and down in his hand and announced to everyone, "I have picked AnAn up. I am going back to work! Oh, yeah. Save me a spot for lunch, I will be back!"

Mother Nie waved at him impatiently, and Father Nie showed no reaction to his words at all. Grandpa Nie was the only one who called out to him suddenly, "Wait a minute, ChengFeng." Nie ChengFeng raised his eyebrows and thought to himself, I knew grandpa is the best. After all, he was the only boy in the family; of course he'd be grandpa's favorite.

But in the next second, he felt that his face hurt quite a bit. Grandpa Nie continued, "AnAn said she liked that windmill model made by our company. Didn't you have one in your office? Don't forget to bring it back with you for AnAn during lunch." Nie ChengFeng: "Grandpa, I don't think I will be able to make lunch after all."

Grandpa Nie: "Oh ok, just remember to bring it with you when you come home tonight then." Nie ChengFeng looked around at everyone. Whatever happened to him being the root of the family? Was he just chopped liver now? Before Nie ChengFeng even stepped out of the house, Mother Nie had already walked quickly in front of Nie AnAn.

Her look was tender, and her voice was softer and warmer than Nie ChengFeng had ever heard before. "AnAn, welcome home. This will be your real home from now on." Nie AnAn thought to herself, perhaps she was watching all these unfold from the perspective of an outsider at the beginning. But after the last few hours, and seeing how Mother Nie and Father Nie have been looking at her with such raw and genuine emotions and how Grandpa Nie's eyes turned red all of a sudden when he was talking about the past, it suddenly reminded her of what home felt like in her previous life.

Her parents had passed away when she was young and she was raised by her grandpa. Her grandpa was about the same age as Grandpa Nie, and he, too, would quietly wipe away tears when talking about her parents. This was, no doubt, a scene that she had dreamed about many times in her previous life Having her parents still around and a grandfather that doted on her, Nie AnAn couldn't help but be moved.

In front of her, on the couch, there were gifts that Mother Nie had prepared for her and old toys that Father Nie had dug out from the storage. The toys were half burnt in the fire, yet it did not change the fact that they had been kept very nicely all these years, as though that's their only link left with their daughter who was once alive. Nie AnAn bit her lips, and her eyes started to redden. She had on a white dress today, making her look like a little white rabbit. She picked up the burnt toys, looked at it for a few seconds, and suddenly looked up and called out to the ones in front of her, "Mom, Dad, Grandpa."

After she was done saying that, the three of them paused for a few seconds before ecstasy and emotions rushed into their eyes, and they were laughing and crying at the same time. Lunch today was half an hour later than usual.

Nie ChengFeng came home early and walked into the kitchen with the windmill model in his hand. "AnAn, I've brought you my only model." Standing next to Nie AnAn, Nie ChengFeng raised his cherry blossom eyes a little and asked, "Now tell your real brother who's the more handsome one, me or Huo YanXiao?" Nie AnAn was stir frying the very last dish. Having heard his question, she pointed at the wok.

Nie ChengFeng looked over at where she was pointing. It was stir-fried shrimp. Shrimp? Blind? Nie ChengFeng got it right away, "You meant, you are not blind, and that I am the more handsome one of the two?" (T/N: "shrimp" rhymes with "blind" in Chinese) "Brother Feng, I'm afraid that you'd hit me if I tell you the truth," said Nie AnAn in her most serious tone.

Nie ChengFeng was so angry that he laughed out loud. "I won't hit you, I would only..." He dragged that last word out, but Nie AnAn never heard the rest of the sentence. After she had scooped out the shrimp and turned around, she saw that Nie ChengFeng had already eaten quite a few pieces of the steamed pork ribs with rice powder.
