"Wait. Is this printed?"
NAPALUNOK ako ng laway sa sinabi ni sir. His eyes narrowed into a thin line while examining the papers, particularly that one piece of it on the front.
"H-ho?" Umutal-utal ako pero sinubukan kong pakalmahin ang sarili.
"Nako, hindi yata nasabi nang maayos ang instructions eh." Umiling-iling siya. "Hindi siguro nasabi nang officers na dapat printed 'yong pangalan ng mga botante." He grabbed the paper on the front and showed it to me. "Hindi klaro ang penmanship ng estudyante na 'to. Okay nang kahit hindi written in printed ang pangalan niya basta't nababasa."
Parang nabunutan ako ng tinik sa lalamunan. I thought he knew that all of these papers were printed duplicates. Printed as in "clearly without joining the letters" pala ang ibig sabihin ni sir.
"Hindi ko rin po maintindihan 'yong sulat niya." I let go of an awkward smile.
"Unfortunately, this wouldn't be counted as a vote because the identity of the voter isn't clear." Itinabi na lamang ni sir ang papel na 'yon sa gilid. "Mahirap na't marami nang laro ngayon ang mundo. Who knows if may mga bomoto na hindi naman enrolled sa Wilton, hindi ba?"
Marami pang sinabi si sir but in the end, I was thankful we weren't caught. Akala ko, mahuhuli niya 'yong ginawa namin kanina. Had he found out, baka maparusahan pa kami for suspension or worse—expulsion.
