"I got a note from Vlad and Ben."

UNFORTUNETALY, I ENDED up going shopping with my mother after all. We found this sage green satin gown because it was my favorite color. She insisted we buy a really pretty flower crown that matched with my dress. It wasn't as bad as the last years but I still despised it.

"Pareces un ángel, mi amora." Mami told me as she fixed up my hair.

Translation: You look like an angel, my love.

"Thanks, mami." I thank her.

"Ay, cheer up."

"You know.. Juli would have been here right now complaining about how she should be able to wear makeup like me." I laugh.

"Yeah.. I can tell you miss her." Mami admits.

"I just wish we knew who killed her. It's not fair that they just get to live life freely after what they did." I start to tear up.

"El cariño, don't cry, you'll ruin your makeup." My mom hands me a tissue.

"I know. I know."

"Are you ready?" Sarah asked me as we were getting ready to walk out to the crowd.

"Yeah. I'm surprised my dad is even here." I scoff.

"Well, he is getting coronated as Guardians of Knights of the Rhododendron."

"True. But he's never here because of him and my mom's arguments, and work. I'm pretty sure that he has another family but whatever." I say.

"Come on. They are getting ready to walk out." She grabs my hand as my family and hers walk out the door. Many people started applauding as we just waved.
Topper was waiting on Sarah when we walked out and he grabbed her wrist.

"Hey. Hey, Sarah. I waited on you.. you said you wanted to walk in together." Topper says.

"Yeah. Well I came with my parents."

"Can we talk for a sec?"

"Sure."

"How's it going?"

"It's good."

"Good."

"How are you?" Sarah asked.

"I'm alright. You look beautiful."

"Thank you.

"Hey, where were you yesterday?" Topper asked Sarah. They didn't know I was eavesdropping but I knew Topper would get suspicious and I would have to cover for Sarah.

"I was out of town."

"Out of town?"

"Mm-hm."

"Where did you go?" Topper questions.

"Chapel Hill."

"What-- with you're family, or-"

"No."

"No?"

"A friend." Sarah tells her boyfriend.

"A friend. A friend. What friend?" He interrogated.
