TW/CW : diagnosis, doctor, hospital

"Thomas has been diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder, otherwise known as DID. It used to be known as multiple personality disorder."

"What does this mean for his schooling and other daily activities?"

"Thomas will often be forgetful. The "alters" as most people call them, have amnesic barriers between their memories. For Thomas's system, it seems they are extremely strong."

"These alters- are all different people in Thomas's head?"

"Yes."

"So are the people all just different forms of Thomas?"

"They can be, but it's unlikely. If Thomas is neurodivergent then it's likely he may get many introjects of people he knows or sees online."

"What are introjects?"

"Alters based on other people. They can be either fictional or real."

"Alright."

I sat and listened. I have... DID? Am I insane? What if people think I'm crazy now...

"DID is a childhood trauma disorder, so we will need to contact Thomas's mother. She may possibly need to be reevaluated as a suitable holder of Thomas."

"Alright."

"Alright."

Alright.
Alright?

Alright.

Alright.

Alright..
Alright?

Right?

It's all just fine.

Fine.

Oh.

Where am I?

It's dark.

I'm cold.

So cold.

Where is home?

Mom?

Shhh..

Don't wake me up.

Is this home?

"Welcome to the headspace."
