Lan Xichen was thinking about how to bring up the topic with Jiang Cheng. it was a great opportunity for him too as he can know him better.At that very moment JIang Cheng came.
Its time to go home . He may have came to tell him before he leaves. he spoke,
" a-Cheng, do you have any plan afterwards?"
"no, do you need me to do anything?"
" ah no, I just wanted to treat you to dinner. It just occured to me that I never treated you to dinner. "
" No No Its okay." Jiang Cheng politely refused though he was screaming in his mind . His crush just invited him to dinner.
" Hey ! I'm not doing it for some kind of formality. I just wanted to treat you as a friend, as a colleague since we have been working together for a while."
(A/N: oops- he just got friendzoned!!)
" If you say so. I will be glad then."
" let's go then." Lan Xichen stand up from his chair, giving a wide smile.
Jiang Cheng turned around quickly to hide his blush. That smile just melted his heart once again.
They reached to a fancy restaurant nearby and went inside.
" what do you want to eat?" lxc asked softly.
"um..anything is fine with me. you can choose."
"Okay then. " Lan Xichen ordered some dishes he thought Jiang Cheng would like.
There's a awkward silence between them. Jiang Cheng always talked to Xichen about work , so he can't figure out what he should say since they out out. He is freaking nervous!
Xichen was staring at him all the time. He found it so cute when he saw Jiang Cheng's uneasiness. He tried to make him comfortable.
He spoke," Sooo.....umm....we are working together for so long but looks like I am a irresponsible boss since I never asked about my employee."
Jiang Cheng flinched as he suddenly spoke. He titled his head to the side in confusion, what is he talking about?
" I have a question."
"Please ask " Jiang Cheng said politely.
"Well, I saw that you were a business student then why did you choose to work in here?" Xichen started to talk with the most normal thing, I guess?
He can't just ask him about his brother from the start! He might think Xichen likes his brother 🤦
" Uh! That's... Actually my dad wants me to take over his business and I also like it but before joining my dad's company I wanted to gain some experience. And this was the easiest job I thought. " Jiang Cheng let out a small laugh.
Lan Xichen looked at him astonished. His smile is so beautiful.....
"You don't think it's easy now anymore?"
"No no that's not what I meant. I actually quite like it here. And you too..." He said the last part in his mind.
" Really? What about the boss then?" Lan Xichen blurted out.
" Huh?!" Jiang Cheng startled , a tint of light pink showed on his cheeks.
Xichen smirked noticing that.
"What? Am I that bad boss? "
" That's not true . You are great." Jiang Cheng raised his voice a little in desperation. After realizing what he did, he became embarrass.
Lan Xichen stopped teasing the poor boy for now.
"Haha I was just joking. You don't need to be serious. Let's talk about something else."
Then they started about various topics Their favorite place ,food, funny memories. ( I am so lazy to write it 😿)
Then finally come to family.
" My father is a businessman and mother does many things , you know free soul haha. And u met my brother today. He takes over dad's company . You told me your dad is a businessman too right?"
" Yes, both my parents are. My mom works in my dad's company. They first met there. "
" Office romance. My dad always brings how he met mom on the mart, hahaha"
" Yes, same my dad . " Jiang Cheng laughed along with him.
" Do you have any siblings or only child ? "
" No I have an elder sister and an elder brother, although we are almost same ages. "
" Owh twins! Everyone says me and my brother are twins when we actually have 3 years difference" Lan Xichen snorted.
" Actually no.... " Jiang Cheng hesitated but then decided to tell him. " Actually he is my parents's best friend's son. His parents died when he was 3 , so my parents adopted him. "
"Oh I see. Looks like you are so close."
" Yes . Although he is exact opposite of me. He talks all the time , can't even stand for a moment." He grimaced
"Hahahaha . Well , you also talk a lot. Before today I didn't know that"
" I- I don't...I mean not as much as him. Most annoying thing is you can't even say anything to him. He will just make you cool with his eye blinding smile. Only if he gets bad grade so you can at least have a reason to scold him but he is just a born genius" Jiang Cheng sighed.
Seeing how Jiang Cheng praised him while scolding his brother , he kind of felt a little jealous. He also wanted to get praise from him this openly.

"That's also good. Your dad has two sons to look after his business while I , choose a different occupation abandoning my dad's company." Xichen said with a faint smile.
" It's not like that. You are a famous professor, your dad obviously feels proud of you. And as much as I know Mr. Lan , he would never want his sons to do what they don't like. Don't be upset over this." Jiang Cheng stated.
" Hmm...I know. Thanks."
" That's nothing. Also my brother is same. He doesn't like business thing. He only loves to draw. He is an art major"
"so your brother is an artist." Lan Xichen exclaimed. Now they are getting to the topic.
" Yeah, at first I thought he was fooling around like he always do but it looked like he took it seriously. He became quite famous too. " Jiang Cheng said casually although he was quite proud of his brother in his heart .
" Wow .... Looks like I should get his autograph then. What his name though?" Lan Xichen tried to make it sound as normal as possible.
" His name is Wei Wuxian but he doesn't really use this name for his arts. He doesn't really like publicity so he hides his identity. Umm.... it's his choice so I need to ask him before telling you his name, I'm really sorry about that but-"
" Hey hey hey!! I was just casually asking , don't take it so seriously. I respect your brother's decision. You don't need to apologize for that." Lan Xichen panicked as Jiang Cheng kept apologizing.
"Ah yeah think you."
Just then their food came, they started eating. The rest of the time are silently since Jiang Cheng knows Xichen doesn't like to talk while eating.
After the dinner , Xichen insisted on driving Jiang Cheng home. Jiang Cheng declined the offer many times before eventually got on the car.
