A/n: In this oneshot, let's pretend that the Marauders and Regulus are in the same year! This once was also requested once again by @JulzLovDraco4Eva

I'm also going to be quite busy for the next couple of weeks since school has started to become hectic lately. Nevertheless, I'll still try to post!
This oneshot is a little short from what I usually do, but I had tried to include every detail that was requested for it to have. Thank you for the request and I hope it's to your liking!

Helga, it was absolutely hard enough already to be running as prefect, but I hadn't expected it to be harder when you're friends with the Marauders! It had been an accident when we met really. Sirius and James had been talking with each other in one of the carriages in the train to Hogwarts when my owl had flown in so rapidly inside and started making a mess. It had taken a while for him to calm down, but once it did, I had gratefully thanked the two for helping me with Cedric.

"Come on, Higgins" James whined as the rest of the Marauders trailed after him. Helga, I just wanted to get to class! I loved them, but was that so hard to ask for

"No, James. I am not going to get the special vinegar our common room entrance password has so you could prank Snape!" I may not particularly like the boy either, but that doesn't mean I'll let them torment the poor boy when he hasn't done anything to them. I still sympathize for him since he technically didn't do anything to initiate the fight between the two.

"But Higgins-"

"She said no, Potter. And I'm sorry, but she needs to get to class now" Regulus came, dropping an arm around my shoulder and led me away from the pouting boy and his friends. Now, the story of how we met was actually a lot more embarrassing. I had somehow strayed to the dungeons and got scared of something. I ended up crashing onto Regulus who was holding a tower of borrowed books from the library.

"Merlin, I'm sorry you had to see that Regulus. I just need to keep my record clean if I want to be a prefect next year and I can't exactly have that happening if I help them torment a fellow student right" I laugh, grimacing a little at the though. Professor Sprout would surely be disappointed in her star student taking part in a prank

"Then hang around me. Salazar, knows I'm not doing anything that could damage your record as the perfect little badger" He grinned. Merlin, he never failed to make my heart flutter.

"And be around Malfoy? No thank you" I grimaced. The man had respect on my blood, but refused to associate himself with badgers. Merlin, what a douche "If we were each other then I think I just might get my record dirtier than I wish"

We get to the classroom in time and I settled onto my seat beside Longbottom as Professor Flitwick goes around to collect the essay that he had us work on. The bloody essay had to be over a thousand words on our topic and I just didn't have enough mental capacity, so I had to seek help from Regulus who had - not surprisingly - done it before I could plan my first paragraph.

Writing down the material that Professor decided to give us so we could read our next lesson in advance, I can't help but notice the looks that the Slytherins were throwing my way from the other side of the room. I mean, I could be assuming, but I swear they keep looking at me from the side of my eye as they talked amongst themselves with Regulus.

I swear if this was another bit on how badgers weren't really supposed to be associated with snakes then I just might show them how nasty a badger could be compared to a snake.

"Ms. Higgins," Professor Flitwick called all of a sudden as I earned the attention of the whole class. Merlin, kill me now "What is the difference between wand magic and wandless magic - Other than the obvious of course" I nodded, casting a glance to Regulus who had only given me a supporting smile. Standing up from my seat, I start talking,
