Featured Cryptid: Dover Demon

Our episode opens up with another typical day at the Cryptozoology museum, with Daniel and Natalie getting things ready for another new addition to the museum's collection, this one being a life-sized sculpture of the Dover Demon. Daniel has no Idea what this cryptid is, and opens up the Cryptozoologicon reading up on how the Dover Demon is a child-sized, highly intelligent hairless member of the loris family native to the wilderness of Dover, Massachusets. However things start to get awkward when Daniel notices the Johnson Family RV pull up to the museum entrance, now outfitted with a radar dish and an inflatable Nessie attached to the top along with the words "Destination Monster" painted on the sides. Daniel facepalms, remembering that the Johnson Family were there back in Point Pleasant and they didn't erase their memories meaning they know about the existence of cryptids now. James, Sharon, Cindy, and even their dog Max enter the museum with James asking our heroes about the sightings of the Dover Demon in Dover, Massachusetts while Sharon films with her camera. Natalie grabs Sharon's camera and destroys it, telling her that's classified information before pushing them out the door. Natalie then whips out a memory-wipe device, saying that letting them keep their memories was a mistake. Daniel however grabs the device and swipes it from Natalie's hand, telling her that he won't let her, saying that he can't afford to lose the only family he knew a second time. meanwhile the Johnson family escape in their RV, James frustrated over how he wasn't able to get a single word out of Daniel or his girlfriend. Sharon calms James down, telling him that maybe they can come up with another way to get some information out of them before staring at Cindy who asks her parents what they're looking at her for before we jump-cut to Cindy putting on a Dover Demon costume which makes her totally embarrassed. James explains the plan, saying that the plan is for her to pose as the creature when they get to Dover, Massachusetts while mommy videotapes her and uploads it to the internet, getting the attention of the Animal X natural mystery unit where they will for sure fall for the bait. once they take the bait, they will have no choice but to expose their existence to the world, making the Johnson Family into millionaires which will fund their cryptid-hunting reality TV show "Destination Monster". after that, we cut back to the museum where Daniel and Natalie are approached by Bill who informs the two that they've got a grave situation on their hands. Bill takes Daniel and Natalie down the elevator and shows them a viral video of what is allegedly the cryptid known as the Dover Demon, Natalie noticing with a skeptic eye that the creature is clearly a child in a costume meaning it's a hoax. Bill tells his adopted daughter that it may be a hoax, but he believes this may be part of a plot to expose the Animal X natural mystery unit to the world, which could put the safety of the cryptids they've sworn to protect at great risk. Daniel and Natalie understand, followed by Helena telling Daniel and Natalie that if they find out who's behind this they must memory-wipe them on sight. the two understand the severity of the situation and hop in the X-jeep along with Rodney before blasting off. Rodney then zips into the back of the jeep to find that Tony snuck aboard yet again, much to the frustration of Daniel and Natalie, with Natalie asking Tony why he stowed away THIS time. Tony tells Daniel and Natalie that he overheard what mom said and she sounded super-serious so he snuck aboard to see if he can help. Natalie groans followed by Daniel telling Tony that he can come along which excites Rodney who nuzzles up against Tony. the X-jeep then lands in the Chase Woodlands of Dover, Massachusetts before our heroes exit the vehicle and come across the fake Dover Demon who runs into the forest. our heroes split up to go after the impostor, Daniel and Rodney going one way while Natalie and Tony go the other way. the impostor Dover Demon tries to out-run Natalie and Tony but is backed into a corner followed by Tony firing a blast from his shock gauntlets that knocks the fake Dover Demon over causing her mask to fall off revealing it to be Cindy Johnson (duh!) much to the shock of Natalie. Cindy doesn't recognize Tony, asking who he is. Tony introduces himself as Tony White, followed by Cindy blushing and telling him "you're cute" causing him to blush followed by James and Sharon sneaking behind to tase him. Cindy tells the unconscious Tony "I'm sorry" while he is being dragged into the RV by James and Sharon while Natalie watches before rushing off to find Daniel. we cut to Daniel and Rodney walking through the forest until they see the Johnson family RV driving off, Daniel putting two and two together in his head before realizing that the Johnsons were behind this. Natalie regroups with Daniel to inform him that the Johnsons have kidnapped Tony, which makes Daniel feel guilty for his actions blaming himself for this mess, saying that if he let her erase their memories this wouldn't have happened. Natalie puts her hand on Daniel's shoulder, telling him that it wasn't all his fault and that they still have a chance to save him, holding his hand. the two hop back into the X-jeep all the while little Rodney spots the real Dover Demon running through the woods followed by Daniel contacting Bill and Helena to inform them that the Johnsons were behind the hoax and have captured Tony who stowed away in the X-jeep yet again, much to the chagrin of Helena who tells Daniel and Natalie that they better get him back or suffer the consequences while Bill tells Daniel that he must not hesitate to memory-wipe them, saying that they already know too much and are a threat to the Animal X natural mystery unit which makes Daniel feel conflicted. we then cut to Tony waking up to find himself tied to the seat inside the Johnson Family's RV. Tony asks what's going on, and Cindy tells Tony that her mom and dad plan on interrogating him to get some information about their little organization. Tony tells Cindy she can't do that, saying that Animal X's secrecy is for the safety of all cryptids, exposing their organization to the public will put the lives of several cryptid species at risk of being hunted to extinction by the outside world while Sharon videotapes Tony with her phone while James demands Tony to tell them more about the Animal X natural mystery unit whipping out a taser while Max growls at him. but Tony refuses to speak, followed by Cindy asking Tony what that crystal he wears around his necklace is. Tony tells her that it's an Atlantean power crystal from the sunken city of Atlantis. Cindy exclaims "Atlantis is real?" followed by Tony telling her that he already said too much. however the X-jeep drives up to the RV and rams into it followed by Rodney flying out of the X-jeep and into the RV to use his super-speed to knock out James, Sharon, and Max. Cindy asks what that thing is, followed by Tony telling her "that's Rodney, he's kinda like our pet". Cindy looks down at her parents and Max knocked out cold before looking out the window of the X-jeep. Cindy decides to do the right thing and cuts Tony free of his restraints, telling him to go before Rodney Tony by the back of his shirt and safely carrying him to the X-jeep, Tony thanking Cindy for helping him escape while waving her goodbye. Natalie asks Tony what he told them, and Tony tells her that he didn't tell them anything followed by Daniel saying "either way your mom is so gonna kill us for this!" followed by the RV chasing after the X-Jeep, James determined to catch the Animal X natural mystery unit. however both vehicles end up driving off a bridge and crash into the forest below where they are being watched by the real Dover Demon, the X-jeep activating its flight mode mid-air to break the fall while the Johnson family RV crashes and explodes. Daniel then hops out of the X-jeep and rushes towards the crash site to help pull the Johnson family (along with their doggo) out of the wreckage of what used to be their RV saving their lives. Cindy hugs her uncle Daniel, happy to see him again while Daniel apologizes to James and Cindy for kinda wrecking their RV. Daniel notices Cindy is still wearing the fake Dover Demon costume (albeit with her mask off) and is shocked to learn that she's the fake Dover Demon from the video. Cindy hand Daniel the mask and apologizes for tricking him and his friends, followed by Daniel turning his attention to James and asking what the meaning of this is. James explains to Daniel that him and his family are doing an episode for their reality TV show "Destination Monster" where they would expose the existence of the Animal X Natural Mystery Unit to the world making them rich and famous. Daniel then exclaims "you WHAT!?" before the REAL Dover Demon shows up to stare down our heroes with its glowing yellow eyes. the Johnsons are petrified in fear while Max barks at the creature, James exclaiming "It can't be..." followed by Natalie saying that it's the real Dover Demon. the creature then leaps onto Max and wrestles poor doggo only for James to rush towards the Dover Demon baseball bat in hand to whack the beast to save Max, however doing so angers the creature causing the Dover Demon to leap onto James's head causing him to drop the baseball bat. Sharon picks up the bat to save her husband, however the Dover Demon leaps off James's face just in time causing Sharon to accidentally hit James with the baseball bat knocking him out cold. Sharon looks at Daniel and Natalie and asks why the creature is attacking them, and Daniel tells the Johnsons that they've probably stumbled too close to the creature's territory and that it wants them to leave. The Dover Demon suddenly has a fascination with Tony's atlantean crystal and leaps on top of Tony to nab his crystal pendant before taking off into the woods. Tony tells Daniel and Natalie that they've got to get his crystal back, but Natalie tells Tony that he's crazy, saying that it's too dangerous for him to go after a wild cryptid alone, Daniel agreeing with Natalie pointing out how he's just a kid and not a trained Animal X agent like he and Natalie are. Tony then tells the two that that crystal means too much to him to just leave it behind, all the while Cindy feels sorry for him, asking her uncle Daniel what that thing would even want his crystal in the first place. Daniel opens up the Cryptozoologicon and finds out that male Dover Demon will often decorate their nests with shiny objects in order to attract mates, which gives Cindy an idea. Cindy offers to go with tony, saying that she'll use her Dover Demon costume to disguise herself as a female of its species in order to distract it while Tony sneaks around to grab the crystal. James tells her absolutely not, saying that he won't let his daughter risk her life for some boy she just met. Cindy is frustrated with how over-protective her father is, but Tony comes to her defense telling James that she won't be alone, he'll be there to protect her before whipping out one of his shock-gauntlets. James understands and agrees to let Cindy go with Tony while he, Natalie, and the Johnsons will catch up, James carrying the family doggo Max in his arms as they rush back to the X-jeep where the Johnsons are forced to sit in the back with Rodney who zips around the heads of the couple, Sharon asking "what's up with the flying snake?" which offends Rodney followed by Daniel correcting them, saying that Rodney's a flying rod before the X-jeep takes off. after that, we cut to Tony and Cindy walking through the woods until they spot the Dover Demon placing the Atlantean crystal in its nest. Tony places his hand on Cindy's shoulder, telling her that now it's her time to shine. Cindy puts on her Dover Demon mask and approaches the Dover Demon who falls for the bait, mistaking Cindy for another one of its species. the creature then walks up to Cindy who starts mimicking the creature's movements hoping to impress it. the Dover Demon then touches hands with Cindy, all the while Tony sneaks around from behind. the Dover Demon wades in the nearby stream and catches a fish in its hands before offering the fish to Cindy as a gift. Cindy is naturally grossed out by the sight of a flopping fish, but accepts the gift to avoid upsetting the creature. the Dover Demon nuzzles against Cindy, making her realize that the Dover Demon wants her to become its mate which grosses her out. meanwhile Tony sneaks into the creature's nest where he finds his crystal pendant. the Dover Demon then grabs Cindy by the hand to take it to its nest where it catches Tony red-handed trying to steal back the crystal. Tony tells Cindy to back away from that thing before whipping out his shock gauntlets and blasting the Dover Demon. Cindy begs Tony not to hurt it, telling him that the creature's not dangerous and that it just wants to be left alone. the Dover Demon then gets back up leaps on top of Tony to pin him down, putting its hand around Tony's neck to strangle him leading to a massive tussle between the two. Cindy begs for the Dover Demon to let Tony go, taking off her mask to reveal to the creature that she's human. the creature angered at being decieved by a human and leaps onto Cindy to attack her. Tony tries to take aim with his shock gauntlet but accidentally hits a tree causing it to nearly fall down on both of them. the dover demon leaps off Cindy to escape followed by Tony rushing in to push Cindy out of the way to save her. Cindy then hugs Tony and says "my hero" before giving him a kiss on the cheek causing him to blush. the Dover Demon then corners both of them before fleeing upon seeing the headlights of the X-jeep. Cindy is happily re-united with her parents and Max who gives her kisses while Rodney nuzzles against Tony happy to see him again while Tony shows Daniel and Natalie that he successfully got his crystal pendant back. Daniel then kneels down to give Cindy a noogie happy to see her again followed by Cindy telling her uncle Daniel that Tony saved her life, which impresses Natalie who tells Tony "you're gonna go far kid, you'll make a great Animal X agent someday" followed by Cindy asking "but what about me?" with Natalie responding by saying that they'll talk about it. however the Dover Demon leaps on top of the X-jeep to confront our heroes before leaping onto Daniel's face comically shouting "get it off me get it off me!" while Cindy closes her eyes and tells the Dover Demon to stop. the Dover Demon's eyes then switch from glowing yellow to icy blue much like Daniel's whenever he's in his ESPer state before hopping off of Daniel's face. Natalie asks Daniel if that was him to did it, and Daniel tells her that it wasn't him. Cindy then opens her eyes which are glowing an icy blue much to the shock of everybody followed by the Dover Demon walking towards Cindy and sitting beside her, Daniel saying "I can't believe it, Cindy's... an ESPer?" followed by Cindy placing her hand on the Dover Demon's forehead, telling the creature that she understands how it feels and that they'll leave it alone as long as it lets them leave in peace, telling the Dover Demon that not all humans are bad and they just want to go home just like it. the Dover Demon complies and walks off into the forest, followed by Cindy's eyes returning to normal. Daniel compliments Cindy, telling her how amazing that was and he didn't know she had the gene in her. Cindy tells him that she didn't either, however the X-copter arrives on the scene with Bill and Helena showing up, Helena chastising her son for sneaking off yet again while Bill chastises Daniel for continuing to be attached to the Johnsons, saying that their actions have endangered Animal X's operations along with the safety of all cryptids, whipping out his memory-wipe device telling Daniel that he's left him no choice but to erase Daniel's memories along with the Johnsons. however Daniel reveals to Bill that the Johnson family's young daughter Cindy has the ESPer gene just like him. Cindy grabs Bill's leg and begs for him not to memory-wipe her uncle Daniel, telling Bill that she promises not to tell anyone about cryptids or Animal X. James tells Bill that he and his wife are good at keeping secrets, telling him that they were the ones who raised Daniel and were able to keep his gifts a secret from the outside world for nearly his whole life. Bill begrudgingly lets the Johnsons keep their memories as long as they vow to never speak of what they saw today. Cindy says "yay!" and hugs Tony while Spike licks poor Rodney getting the little skyfish covered in dog slobber. Helena gives the Johnsons some special Animal X communication devices, telling them girl that if there's ever a cryptid-related emergency they can use these to call Animal X and Daniel and Natalie will be at their beck and call. Tony then holds hands with Cindy to tell her that this must mean it's time to say goodbye and gives her his Atlantean crystal pendant as a gift for her to remember him by. Cindy promises Tony that she will keep it safe and our episode ends with the Johnsons waving goodbye as the X-jeep and X-copter take off into the air.
