Chapter 12

Y/N suddenly jolted awake as they turned to a clock that was near
'12:02am' the clock read. Y/N froze up when realizing that they could've slept through Loid's signals for back-up

Crap! No! No! No! Please tell me that nothing horrible happened to them! It will be the end of me if they are both are badly injured!
Y/N quickly got out of bed not really realizing that Yuri had woken up. Y/N looked around the place just in case someone had come by to leave a little message but nothing could be found

There's nothing, could that mean they are alright...?
Y/N then fell to their knees a bit out of breath from running around like a frantic deer
Damn so I just got worried over nothing?
That's when the sound of footsteps approaching them was heard
"Y/N? What's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?"

Y/N turned their head fast then Yuri had spooked them
"O-Oh! Yuri! Did I accidentally wake you up..?" Yuri just lightly nodded as Y/N then spoke again
"Uh.. Guess I did have a nightmare.." Y/N watched as Yuri lightly frowned feeling real bad for Y/N. Yuri then moved closer to Y/N and pulled them into an embrace

"You poor thing, it's alright now! I'll protect you" Y/N just grew quiet when suddenly feeling Yuri lightly nuzzle their cheek
"Yuri.. Please..i'm fine.." 
"Are you sure...? I don't want to leave you all alone still frightened" Y/N grew quiet before hiding their face in Yuri's shoulder
I can't believe i have to just play along and act like i've just had a nightmare.. Oh well! He's a dummy, but of course my dummy!

"I think talking about whatever scared you could maybe help" Y/N grew quiet when Yuri had said that
"Maybe..."
I should have thought he would say that.. Right, coming up with a fake nightmare will probably be the hard part...

As the two left the kitchen and went to their bedroom to talk about Y/N's nightmare. Yuri was holding their hand tightly like he was comforting them
"Your hand seems a bit sweaty... Are you that scared?" Yuri asked with a worried expression as Y/N didn't respond at all
Why is he so worried about me..? I've never had anyone this worried about me except either Loid when I went on my first mission... Right, I grew up in a world where my cries for comfort weren't heard at all.. Was it because of I kept digging myself into debts? The death of everyone i've ever loved?

(Author's note: -getting into Y/N's past :D also maybe a bit of manga spoilers??-)

A very young Y/N was standing beside Loid who was busy cutting up some vegetables and adding them into a soup he was making
"So.. Y/N is it? You came all this way from that little home town to here to ask for money..? I thought you were done paying off that debt" Y/N looked to the side
"I got myself into another debt..." Loid began to get pretty annoyed before turning to Y/N revealing that his right eye was injured from one of his war missions
"I thought you've learnt your lesson! How much do I have to tell you!? I'm not your parent!" Y/N didn't respond at all
"You'll end up dead like your own parents!"
"Don't bring up the past.. Please.." Loid grew quiet after that was said he saw Y/N had a very sad expression since Loid was right Y/N would end up meeting the same fate like their parents.

"Right, i'm very sorry Y/N" Y/N just stayed quiet when the sound of footsteps were heard
"You know.. You two are almost exactly like onions, big and round then there is that false layer.. If you cut through all those layers of lies then there'll be tears.." The two turned fast to see a older man sitting on a crate while lightly throwing up a onion and catching.

"Y/N L/N and Roland Spoofy- wait no, it's ##### isn't it? Such a shame that a little reunion between two childhood friends revealed the both of your's little ruse " Loid froze up when his real name was suddenly exposed along with how it was somehow found
"Using a dead older man's name to enlist into the military before you were of legal age.. Am I right?" Loid stayed froze with shock as the man turned his attention to Y/N.

"And you, the one who keeps getting into debts, the fact that you've made up a sob story and scam the money out of people's pockets" Y/N began feeling real guilty when the truth was now unravelling real fast
"Are you.. Military police...?" Loid asked a bit worried
"No, i'm military intelligence i've come to recruit the both of you two" both Loid and Y/N stared at the guy who then threw the onion as Loid caught it.

"Meet me at the south station at noon on Tuesday, also dress up in civilian clothing.. I'll just explain the situation to your commanding officer" Soon the man had left leaving the two super quiet
"I guess we have no other choice but to just believe who this guy is really claiming to be" Loid nodded before responding
"I'll go if your going Y/N, but we can't just instantly trust this guy who knows he could just be some traitor"
"I guess You're right" Y/N slowly grew quiet along with Loid wondering what will be their decision

(-end of flashback-)

After making up a very fake nightmare Y/N's head was resting in Yuri's lap as Yuri was lovingly stroking Y/N's head

"I didn't know you were so terrified of the ocean, I mean! I don't blame you I'd also be scared to be stuck in the middle of the ocean" Y/N just grew quiet after Yuri had said that
I don't want to recreate the past, digging myself into more debts would be the end of me again... And of course meeting the same fate as my own parents would also be the end of me... I guess that's why I became a spy so I don't have to deal with so many debts
"I think having the fear of the unknown is normal, I think I don't know i'm not a therapist or whatever"
"Are you stupid.. I'm just gonna think you were dropped on your head as a baby!" Y/N lightly laughed which made Yuri smile.

"Hey! At least I got a laugh out of you" Yuri planted a small kiss on Y/N's head which only made them blush when Yuri had suddenly done that
