Below is a little bit of a teaser for Book 2, Frost. The plot of it has been giving me a difficult time, but I think I'll soon have it figured out. I hope you'll enjoy this teaser, though, and that it gives you an idea of what you can look forward to in Frost.

Once upon a time, Clara broke the Rat King's heart. But that is neither the beginning of the story nor the end, lovely human. This is the story of two brothers.

Long ago, there was a Snow Queen, an elf, as cold and beautiful and merciless as the snow itself, as it had been with all the rulers of snow before her. And it was her heirs this time, not Dewdrop's, that would inherit their family's magic.

The Snow Queen gave birth to two sons, twins. Yet even before the moment of their births, one was destined for evil, the other for goodness. The Rat King and the Cavalier.

The twins were inseparable, convinced they could somehow feel the emotions and pain of the other. But like frost creeping over stained glass, their powers grew until they tore the brothers apart.

The Rat King took up residence in his dark castle deep under the earth on the outlands of Darhafium while the Cavalier ruled the Land of Sweets.

It is true that a girl named Clara stumbled into the tale of these beings, but it's not true that she was an innocent child when she did so.

The Clara you believe you know fought and killed the Rat King with only her slipper. But, lovely human, Clara fell in love with the Rat King and he her. And before she broke his heart, she gave him a daughter who would be the future queen of snow.

The Rat King's brother journeyed from the Land of Sweets to Ruhnerium, for the Cavalier wanted to learn how to create the great desserts of Nicholas's elves. But instead, he found something else and far more precious. His one true love—the Sugar Plum.

Together they had a daughter. The Dewdrop.

A snowflake and a drop of dew. One would begin the cycle over again and pass along her family's magic to her heirs. And like their fathers, one was fated for the sunlight and the other darkness.

Born of a family who had always been overlooked by the Courts, it is said that the Rat King now has only one desire left in his broken heart: to join the Spirit Court and hold more power than his brother ever would. For the sake of your world and ours, the Cavalier swears he will do everything he can to ensure that never comes to pass.

But, of course, as with every tale, lovely human, not everything told here to you has been true. Tales get distorted with time. Parts get left out.

However, know this one thing to be true: never cross paths with the Rat King and hope to live. For if you've found he's left you alive after he's had his fun, you'll be met by the Snow Queen, and it is said she will always be worse than her father.

Hello! I just realized yesterday that this teaser had been marked as a paid chapter for months when it was supposed to be free. I'm so sorry for just now realizing. I'll be starting to post book 2 really soon. Hopefully in the next few days, and I'll be posting it within Claus.

Until then, Happy Holidays!
