For Skadi's whole life she has been in the care of Uhtred but that also means that she has had to grow up with Aethelstan. As they both start to become warriors and mature they realise just how much they want each other.

Skadi had always been looked after by Uhtred since she was a young child but after a while Uhtred takes another young boy under his wing.
This boy was called Aethelstan, the Kings bastard and much like Skadi he raised them together and trained them in the way of sword fighting and battle tactics.
However as the two children grow up into young adults and dangerous people emerge they realise just how much they need one another.
