A few days had passed by, Meredith's mouth sores were almost completely gone but it had badly affected her eating. She now ate even less, despite Derek's million tries to make her smoothies with her favorite food

"Mama!" Maddie ran into the living room where her mom was laying down on the couch, trying to watch some tv

"Hi monkey." Meredith said, slowly moving her head despite the headache

"You cold? It's warm here!" Maddie climbed up the couch, removing the blanket

"Because you've been running all morning." Meredith winks and makes a poor attempt to move the blanket back but eventually failing

"Nanas and I told daddy how we want our new room! I fouwr now, mommy!" Maddie squeals

"I know monkey.." Meredith quietly said, her headache bothering her. She wraps her thin arms around her daughter and kisses her blonde curls

"Here you are." Derek chuckles as he walks back into the living room with Nanas in his arms. "Nanas missed you." He hands the stuffed monkey back to his daughter

"Thank you!" Maddie giggles and hugs Nanas tight. "Say hi to mommy!"

"Hi Nanas." Meredith slowly said, her exhaustion growing rapidly

"You should sleep. You have chemo this afternoon." Derek whispers very quietly so Maddie wouldn't hear them

"Is Addie bringing me? Or is she staying with Mads?" Meredith asks as Maddie runs away with Nanas in her arms

"She said she was gonna bring you, but I don't wanna leave you alone." Derek said, his fear for leaving her had only grown but he also knew their daughter needed some time with her parents

"Take care of Mads. I won't be alone, Addie will be with me." Meredith mutters, closing her eyes in the meantime

"Okay. Alex also wanted to come over, and Cristina is working as well." He kissed her forehead, wanting to show her how much he still loves her

...

Hours later Meredith was asleep, laying down in a hospital bed, preferring a private room over the infusion center. Addison was sitting with her, covering the pale and small woman with tons of blankets and applying moisturizing cream to keep her skin in the best condition possible

"Hey.." Alex knocks on the door

"Hi Karev." Addison smiles as he slowly walks closer

"I don't have much time, there's been an accident on the highway." Alex tells the redhead

"Cristina told us, she stopped by earlier." Addison nods

"They wanted to page you but Richard made sure you and Derek wouldn't need to come in. Sloan said he'd stop by once he finished a face saving surgery." Alex said but his pager went off. "Gotta go." He quickly ran off

"Hmm.." Meredith groans as she was woken up by the pager

"Hi. Alex was here, but he had to go already." Addison tells her friend

"My stomach-" Meredith whimpers and clutches her stomach

"Here-" Addison quickly hands her friend a bucket in case she would have to throw up

"Thanks.." Meredith mutters and keeps holding onto it while laying down.

For the next hour Meredith often had to dry heave, her bucket staying close to her face in case she'd actually have to throw up

"Hurts-" Meredith whimpers

"I know, Mer, I know it hurts." Addison whispers and keeps rubbing her best friend's back. "Two more hours, then I can take you home. Derek texted me earlier, Maddie made you some drawings." She explains, hoping to make her friend at least smile a tiny bit

"She's the best kid-" Meredith starts but was stopped as she threw up, luckily everything went intl the bucket

"Shh.." Was all Addison could whisper, not knowing what to say to comfort her friend. The vomiting went on and on for a while

"I wanna go home.." Meredith whimpers

"Your treatment is finished but Bailey will probably examine you first." The redhead explained, even if Meredith had gone through numerous of these appointments and sessions.

"Hi Meredith, how are you feeling?" Bailey walked in a little while later

"Shit-" Meredith gagged, but not actually throwing up this time, a new and clean bowl resting next to her head

"I'm sorry." Bailey sighed sadly. "At the end of the week we wanna take you for new scans and maybe change your treatment plan." She informed and unhooked Meredith from all the wires and her IV.

"Kay.." Was all Meredith could get out

"Okay, let's get you sitting up so we can leave." Addison helped her best friend but as soon as Meredith was sitting upright she felt dizzy

"Woah- Grey!" Bailey had to help Addison to stabilize Meredith. "I don't think you can walk right now. I'll get you a wheelchair." She said and walked out

"I don't wanna sit in a wheelchair.." Meredith complains

"Meredith please.. Just sit in it and then we'll help you in the car.." Addison almost begs

"Hey, I heard treatment was rough?" Mark walks in, a very concerned look on his face, Bailey standing behind him. "I'll carry her to the car." He offers as he had always felt like a big brother to her

"Thank you.." Meredith mutters, almost falling asleep

"Come here.." Mark sighs sadly and wraps her in his arms and carries her outside, through the less crowded halls of the hospital to the doctor's parking where Addie's car was
