I walked towards the barn and noticed a group of people my age sitting around, engaged in conversation and enjoying drinks. A girl I had met before spotted me and waved me over.

"You know, if I had known this place had vodka, it would have been a lot more fun," I mentioned with a hint of amusement.

She nodded and replied, "Yeah, Mr. Dawn decided to modernize this place about a week ago and added a bunch of new things."

Curiosity got the better of me, and I asked, "Have you seen Amelia anywhere?"

She shook her head. "Nah, but have a drink. It might help you relax."

I figured anything that could momentarily distract me from the bizarre situation was worth a try. I accepted the cup she offered and took a sip, not giving it much thought. As I continued to listen to her talk about the bartender, a sudden cold breeze swept through the room, sending a shiver down my spine.

"Baby, it's so amazing to see you out of the house, enjoying the scenery," Dean remarked, his tone filled with a disturbing sense of delight.

I couldn't help but question his sanity. "Stop acting like this is normal and that you're sane," I retorted, causing a few nearby individuals to gasp at my audacity.

"Aww, that hurts my heart," he responded, feigning a wounded expression.

Refusing to engage any further, I focused on drinking and tried to distract myself by eavesdropping on random conversations. I desperately attempted to drown out the sound of Dean's voice. Glancing at him, I couldn't help but notice that he seemed more physically fit than before.

Suddenly, I felt his breath against my ear, sending a shiver down my spine. "Honey, it makes me angry that you're ignoring me," he whispered, his words dripping with a tone I was unfamiliar with.

If I wasn't so disgusted with him, I would actually find it hot.

I continued to ignore Dean's presence, determined not to give him the satisfaction of my attention. However, my attempts were interrupted by a drunken girl who stood up and loudly suggested "Let's play a game of hide and seek."

Nope, absolutely not.

Ignoring my internal protest, she continued, urging the others to choose their partners for the game. I could sense Dean's smirk without even turning to look at him. Every fiber of my being revolted at the mere thought of participating.

But then, he spoke again, his voice dripping with an unsettling mixture of arrogance and amusement. "You know what? I'm feeling generous. Want to place a bet?"

My curiosity was piqued, and I reluctantly turned my head to face him.

"If you win," he continued, his eyes gleaming with mischief, "I will destroy your parents' number and return your car keys. However, if I win, you have to act as my girlfriend for a full 48 hours."

A mixture of anger and temptation welled up inside me. Destroying my parents' number would sever a significant connection to my past, but pretending to be involved with Dean was equally repulsive. I weighed the risks and rewards in my mind, contemplating my decision.

I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what lay ahead, and finished off my drink with a determined resolve. "Fine," I finally agreed, reluctantly succumbing to Dean's proposal.

He flashed me a satisfied smile before pulling me towards the front where everyone else had gathered. The air buzzed with anticipation and excitement.

"All right, here are the rules," a guy shouted, garnering everyone's attention. "First, no going into town. Second, no playing dirty. And third, once you're caught, there are no more chances." The hiders were ushered further to the front, preparing themselves for the challenge ahead.
