most of her friends lie out there,
behind a screen.
those she speaks to all day,
yet have never seen.
she hates the fact most of them can be oblivious to her feelings.
reading past her messages
and clueless about their meanings.
in her dark room of comfort,
she lies most nights crying.
her phone dings, showing a message
and she'd be all the conversation lying.
"I'm doing okay"
"My day was amazing"
the lies would go on
and her heart would keep racing.
as she knew she was wrong,
lying to them was so very wrong.
but she didn't want to look like a weak person.
and so she hid behind that smile,
always so perfect.
