Meet the Hanyus

"I can't believe they killed off Glenn!" I wail as quietly as I could on the plane

"He was my fave! I can't believe they killed him, my son!" I cry burying my head into Yuzu's shoulder

Coach, Javi, Yuzu and I are on our our way over to Sendai to stay with his family for a week and I'm currently a mess, sobbing my eyes out

"I love Glenn so much Yuzu" I mumble through my tears

We got to the season 7 premier of The Walking Dead only for my favourite character to be killed off

"Charlie-chan" Yuzu starts in between sobs "I miss him too" 

This is absolute bullshit. I love this show but I can't believe they killed off another person of colour, especially the only Asian American who was treated right on Western television 

"Yuzu-kun?" I ask quietly

"Mmm?" 

"Do you mind if I sleep?" 

"Not at all Charlie-chan. Lay your head on my shoulder" he says patting his shoulder

My head falls to his shoulder and like a light, I'm out

"I'm so nervous" I mutter under my breath 

The four of us are waiting in the front of the Sendai airport for Yuzu's Dad to pick us up and I'm more nervous than ever 

I guess Yuzu can feel my hand shaking in his because he turns to me and says "Charlie-chan, just be yourself ok? My family will love you. Trust me" 

"I hope so..." 

"Oh there's my Dad!' Yuzu shouts putting his left hand up to wave at a red SUV

The car comes to a halt and a man that looks so much like Yuzu walks out from the front seat

"Yuzu!" he greets with his arms wide open 

Yuzu brings me over to his Dad, and he wraps him in a fatherly hug 

I'm literally gonna piss my pants, this is the scariest moment of my life

"Yuzu-kun, who's this?" his Dad asks curiously 

"Oh this is Charlie-chan, my girlfriend" he answers 

I quickly bow and extend my hand out for his Dad to shake 

"Hello Mr. Hanyu, I'm Charlotte Akagi" I say like I've practiced in my mind so times on the plane

His Dad bows back before pulling me into a tight hug

"Oh my son has picked such a beautiful girl! You did well Yuzu-kun!" he laughs 

"Hello Mr. Hanyu, it's nice to see you again" Coach greets walking up to us 

"Ah Mr.Orser, so nice to see you too. I hope Yuzuru hasn't been too troublesome?"

"Not at all. Always been a great student" Coach comments 

Mr. Hanyu nods his head with a smile then pops open the trunk, helping us drop our suitcases in

The car is stuffy since there's so many of us. Coach took shotgun with Mr. Hanyu driving, leaving Javi, Yuzu, and I in the backseat

Javi being Javi, leans over to me an whispers "Does he know he's the grandfather?" 

"Dear God Javi, why are you like this?" I whisper back, laughing a little 

"I just wanna be a godfather Charlie.."

Mr. Hanyu pulls up to the driveway of the house and I can see Mrs. Hanyu and girl, probably his sister Saya, standing on the porch 

"Are you alright Charlie-chan?" Yuzu whispers to me

"I'm okay" I say not to surely. I really hope he can't see the fear in my eyes...

Here goes nothing...again

The four of us help Mr. Hanyu unpack the car before we all head up to the front of the house

"Mom! Saya!" Yuzu shouts running up the steps to hug his Mom and sister

He's adorable isn't he?

"Yuzu-kun, you brought Charlie home?" Mrs. Hanyu smiles looking behind Yuzu and at me

"Oh yeah, she's my girlfriend Mom!" Yuzu chirps 

I walk up the steps to the porch and bow quickly 

"Hello again, Mrs.Hanyu!" I greet and she pulls me into a hug 

"So... you're the one dating my brother?" Saya asks looking down at me

Oh god, please don't hate me...

"YOU'RE CHARLOTTE AKAGI! YUZU NEVER TOLD ME HE WAS DATING YOU!? YOUR KIDS ARE GONNA BE SUCH TALENTED SKATERS! I'M A PROUD AUNTY!" Saya shouts pulling me into her chest

I guess things are going better than expected...
