You and Ivar had been together for some time. You loved him and felt good with him. Still, he could be scary sometimes. You knew it was just better to step back.

For the last few days Ivar's been rather nervous. It was a signal for you to think twice about every move you wanted to make around him.

You were currently sitting with him on the stairs leading to the great hall. In front of you, afew meters away a group of children was playing loudly. Ivar looked irritated.

-Who invented children?- he snorted.

-I think the stages of human life was an idea of the gods, you answered.

-I shall thank them then, for being a man. And thank you for not being this stupid to getpregnant by me.

Those words caused tears to appear in the corners of your eyes, but you had to stop them fromfalling. You were not feeling well recently, you should already be bleeding and you're not. You were not sure, you should visit a healer.

Both you and Ivar remainedsilence. The more you thought about all the symptoms you had, thepanicked you felt. It got to the point where you uncionciously let out a dry sob. That caught Ivar's attention.

-Are you alright, Y/N?

-Yeas, I just ... need to ..go.

You stood up and ran away, leaving Ivar behind.

The healer confirmed your worried. You were pregnant. But you couldn't tell Ivar. Not now. Hesaid it clear, he does not want children. Even if he could take thosenews relatively calmly in other circumstances, now he was far from being calm. You decided to avoid him to the time when you make your mind what to do next. Should you raise it alone? Should you leave Kattegat? Maybe the Queen could help you? It was after all hergrandchild.

You barely left your houseand if you had to, you tried not to choose the paths you knew Ivaralways took. If he came to see her, she told her mother to tell himshe's not home.

***

To say that Ivar wasconfused, would be an understatement. You just left him midsentenceone day and since then he hasn't seen you again. It's been 5 daysnow. For the first day he was angry at you. But as the time passedhe started to get worried. He didn't know if you were hurt or if hedid something to upset you. What if you came up to a realisation thatthere were men, who could take better care of you than him?

He was sitting at the tablein the great hall, with his fist under his chin, looking dumbfoundlyinto the wall. Ubbe, seeing the weird state of his little brother, sat next to him.

-What's wrong?

-Everything. - Ivar's tonewas plain.

-I haven't seen Y/N in along time.

-Neither have I.

-Did you have a fight again?

-I think we didn't but shedoesn't speak to me, I don't know anymore.

Ivar laid his head down onthe table and let out a growl. It was strange for Ubbe. Y/N was theonly person, beside their mother, who could take Ivar's mood swings. It must have been serious if she was giving Ivar a silent treatment.

He was determined to findout what was going on. Especially since Ivar claimed it was not hisfault or at least he didn't know bout it.

Ubbe knocked on Y/N's door.No one answered.

-Y/N it's Ubbe. I know youhere.

After a brief moment youopened the door.

-Did Ivar send you?

-No, I came here on my own.May I come in?

You let him into the house.

-What happened?

You remained silent. Ubbesighed.

-Look. He doesn't know I'mhere and he doesn't have to. You can tell me.

-I'm pregnant – saidpanicked right away. So far only the healer and your mother knew.

-What? - Ubbe askedsurprised, smiling. - That's great!

-No, it's not. - you said, your voice shaking, tears falling from your eyes.

-What do you mean? Don't youwant his child?

-I do. I really do. But Ivardoesn't. I don't know what to do. I'm terrified of his reaction if Itell him. Maybe I should go away and... - you couldn't finish thesentence because of the loud sob.

Ubbe kneeled in front of youand took your hand in his.

-Hey, hey. Look at me. - youturned your puffy eyes on his- You have to tell Ivar. I'm sure hewon't be angry at you. And if he's not mature enough to accept hisown child, then he will have to deal with me, I promise you.

You smiled shyly at him.Knowing you had someone who had an influence on Ivar behind your backmade you feel a little bit better.

-I'll tell you to come hereto you, ok? - Ubbe suggested and you nodded.

He gave you a kiss on thehead. Before he left he said:

-It will be good, Y/N.

After Ubbe had left you layin bed. You were tired. After some time you fall asleep. You woke upto a hand caressing your hair. You opened your eyes slowly. Ivar waslaying beside in your bed, looking at the ceiling.

-Hey – you whispered, yourvoice husky.

- Hello, love. - he gave youa kiss on the forehead.

-How did you get here?

-Your mother let me in afterI literally begged her. If I wasn't on the ground all my life, Iwould get on my knees. - Ivar said, hoping that would make you smile, but you only frowned.

-What is it? - Ivar asked, worried.

You sat up and bit yourlower lip.

-Y/N, you have to tell me.Otherwise I won't be able to help you. I was so worried all the time, please, tell me.

-Just promise you won't getangry at me.

That only worried Ivar more,so he changed his position as well.

You took in a deep breath.

-I'm pregnant.

Ivar clenched his jaw.

-Are you certain?

-Yes.

-Who's the father?

- What kind of question isthis?! You are, of course, who do you think I am??!! - you raisedyour voice, angry.

-Then what's the problem? -he asked with a calm voice.

-Aren't you angry?

-Well, I'm definitely notdelighted, but if you didn't cheat on me, then I don't see a problem.

-But you said... -you fellsilent and Ivar only raised his eyebrows, impatiently waiting for youto finish- I thought you would leave me and hate me and I would beall alone – you cried loudly, weeping and sniffing.

-Shh, don't cry, please. -Ivar awkwardly tried to hug you, he was not good at comfortingpeople. - I won't leave you, especially not now. No, seriously, stopcrying, that's creepy.

You tried your best not tosob anymore.

-Now you'll listen to me.You have to take care of yourself. You'll eat proprly from now on. Nomore sitting at dock or walking barefoot on the meadow, do you hearme?
