"I don't believe you," she said bumping him with her hip "you definitely don't have the balls to talk to coach like that."

Making a snorting noise he bumped her back with his shoulder "I'll let you know I have the biggest balls you'll ever come across." He said cockily.

Letting out a laugh she re-adjusted her bag before opening her mailbox "They making up for something else you're lacking?" She questioned raising an eyebrow at him.

Raising his hands up he backed away from her placing a hand over his heart "Ow, that really hurts." With that he looked over her shoulder before frowning "That dudes so weird."

Following where he was looking, Bella saw her neighbour Jeffrey suddenly appear , standing on his patio smoking. "He hasn't even been here a month and you think he's weird. Sure you're just not feeling intimidated by a real man being in the neighbourhood?"

Rolling his eyes he flicked her forehead "whatever Bella, just keep an eye out my mum said he's weird." With that he continued down the pathway.

"Your mum believe's that the president is a lizard!" She called out watching him flip her off. Laughing she flipped through the mail before shutting the box.

Looking up she jumped seeing Jeffrey had suddenly appeared next to her. "Shit, you scared me."

"Another dirty word leaving your mouth," He muttered dropping the cigarette to the floor. Bella observed that he wasn't looking at her but behind her. "Who was that?"

She smiled up at him ignoring his question "surprised your talking to me, since I'm jailbait," she added with an eye roll.

Letting out a chuckle he rubbed a hand over his jaw. The scratching noise sending a shiver down her spine "you guys dating? You were looking pretty friendly."

"Not that it's any of your concern, but no," opening the front gate she kicked it open with her foot "how's the hammer doing?"

"Hmmm?" He questioned his eyes narrowing in on her form. Slowly moving from her feet up to her eyes, a smirk on his lips.

"The hammer you came and borrowed?" She added before catching his eyes taking her in "you know for someone who-"

"Bella!" Looking behind her Lucas was jogging up the pathway with a bunch of papers "Sorry, totally forgot I had your work. Thank god we live so close."

Taking the papers from him she sighed putting it in her bag "I would die if I failed class because of you." Seeing his eyes flicker to Jeffrey's she nervously bit her lip gripping the mail closer "uh new neighbour Jeffrey Morgan this is Lucas Thompson, he lives a few doors down."

Lucas held his hand out to Jeffrey, and Bella couldn't help but compare the two. Jeffrey trumped the high schooler in every way, his large tan hand cupping almost squeezing Lucas's making the jock look like a child.

"Nice to meet you sir," Lucas squeaked out.

Jeffrey nodded pulling another cigarette out, lighting it slowly before taking a large drag "You kids probably have some high school work to get done."

Lucas nodded "and you old man probably have taxes to file, see you at school tomorrow Bella." With that he ran off down the street.

Cupping her hand over her mouth Bella tried not to laugh out loud. Maybe he had told the coach he was as square headed as the posts. Glancing up at Jeffrey she saw his eyes narrowed after the young boy "he thinks he's quite the comedian doesn't he."

"I thought it was pretty funny," Bella said before closing the fence gate "I'll see you around Jeffrey. Good luck with the taxes." She added with a smile before hopping up the porch.

Unlocking the door she glanced back to see Jeffrey standing at the gate cigarette between his lips. He gave her a small wave as she shut the door. Letting out a deep breath she relaxed against the door "that is enough action for one day."

Standing in the kitchen Bella chopped up the last of the vegetables. Putting the knife down she turned to her mother who was elbow deep in papers and wine "so do I just put them in the pan?" She asked.

Her mother let out a sigh standing up and walking around the table. Taking everything off her daughter she muttered under her breath finishing the dinner. Her mother stopped to stare at her "just give me some space to cook."

Realising her mother was stressed she grabbed a can of soda from the fridge and stepped into the backyard. As soon as she opened it she almost sculled the whole drink. "Hope that's soda, not beer."

Turning over she spotted Jeffrey standing on his back porch, holding a beer. "Soda," she replied showing him the branding. Looking away she suddenly felt awkward, her behaviour from earlier almost haunting her. Breathing in she turned to apologise but he had already disappeared "oh."

"Bella! Set the table." She heard her mother call. She headed to the door taking the last moment to look over at Jeffrey's yard to see it still empty. Shaking her head she just entered the house, not taking a second to look at her neighbours window. To see him looking out at her.
