America turned towards the very British man behind him
Yup, you guessed it, Britain was right behind him
For once, the smaller country looked worried for his eldest son
America sighed softly at that look his father gave him and shrugged the hand off his shoulder

"It's just face paint-"

"Why on earth did you put on face paint? Your flag looks horrendous, America"

That statement kinda hurt America, but he could care less as he started to walk away

"It's my choice, pops"

The old British man just sighed, following after the American boy to the living room, where his other three sons were sitting, each of them with a corgi in their lap
They all turned towards the two walking to them, their chatter slowly coming to a stop
America sat next to the spot next to Canada while Britain, of course, sat in his own chair
The group was quiet for a while, no one bothering to talk in this very-not-comfortable silence that was upon them
The American looked around the paintings and old photos, one of them catching his eye
It was of his mother, France, and that brought a question to his mind

"Where is mom?"

America asked, not even knowing the words slipped out of his mouth
The atmosphere immediately got more awkward after the question, Britain looked like he was about to yell at America for asking the question at all
Well, thank god the other brothers were in the room at that moment
The British man sighed, getting up out of the seat and walking away, saying something along the lines of 'I'm gonna go make tea' or something
As soon as he was gone, Canada turned to America and hit his shoulder, making America jump and turn to the mad Canadian

"Why did you ask that?"

Canada whisper yelled, and the American shrugged, not really knowing why he did ask
Canada let out a exasperated sigh, turning away and petting the sleeping corgi in his lap
America turned as well, from his side view seeing that Kiwi and Aussie were talking in an inaudible language, not understandable to the American
America just sighed and closed his eyes, thinking that nothing could get worse then this
Oh boy, was he wrong, I mean, when is he ever right
The american felt a cough coming up, and he quickly covered it, letting out a muffled, but very painful sounding cough, making eyes turn to him

"You good?"

Aussie asked, raising an eyebrow
The American still had his hand on his mouth, and instead of responding, he got up and ran to the bathroom, leaving the three other countries confused

America ran up the stairs to the bathroom, slamming the door shut and going in front of the mirror, taking his hand off his mouth and seeing black on his hand?

"I'm so fucking done"

He said to himself, groaning as he washed his hands and used a cup that was in the bathroom to get rid of the nasty taste the cough left in his mouth
He looked at his arm, then back at the sink
He ran the water again, putting some water on his fingers and then turning it off
He turned back to his arm and wiped his hand he ran through the water across it
The red on his skin smeared to show a darker, grey red, some red that was on his arm appearing on his white fingers
He sighed, wiping his arms and hand off on a nearby towel, opening the bathroom door and walking out, making sure to turn off the light on the way out

Meanwhile, in the living room, no one had bothered to talk since America left, though it was no question that all of them looked confused as ever
They had all let the corgis run off to their old father, Aussie had brought his legs up, wrapping his arms around them so he was in a curled position almost, just staring off into space
Kiwi and Canada shared a worried look, both of them looking back at the ground immediately after
There was footsteps coming out of the kitchen, and all three of them looked up to see their father walking back in with a tea cup
The Brit sat down in his chair, looking at the three confused

"Where is America?"

He asked, the three sons staying quiet as they all looked at each other
Britain decided not to ask any further, knowing that if he didn't get an answer the first time, he wouldn't even get one
He sipped on his tea quietly, the atmosphere getting uncomfortable again
Once again, footsteps echoed from the stairs, and only Canada looked up to see his brother walking down, looking more miserable then he did when he walked into the house

"America, are you o-"

The American didn't even let him finish his sentence as he stomped towards the front door, opening it and leaving, making sure to slam the door on his way out

"So much for family time.."

Kiwi mumbled, Aussie nodding in agreement

"America has been so weird lately, has anyone else noticed?"

Canada said, Kiwi and Aussie nodded at him, showing they agreed
The Brit rolled his eyes a little, turning to his sons

"I think he is just going through a phase, we shouldn't worry about him, he'll be fine"
