Peace. It had been restored to the galaxy. Hope. That too, had been restored to the galaxy.
Within those three years of Ben and Rey's reign, funds were sent to worlds in need of repair after the Empire's tight harness stifled much income. Several planets were recuperated, inhabited, and had drastically increased in innovations. Restored to their fullest, greatest strength history had seen in centuries.
The Jedi were no longer a veiled myth, hushed only as legends or falsities--now, they were given proper acknowledgement. The Jedi Reign brought forth the creation of several Jedi schools throughout the galaxy, spreading the relevant truth of the light and the dark, and finding the gray center of the spectrums as a balanced individual capable of becoming a true Jedi.

Worlds were now reunited after such harsh pastimes of war and tyranny. People who had become slaves to the First Order on debilitated planets were now freed from the prisons of control. Joy emanated from the spirits of the people and all species in between, basking in the freedom that would last for decades to come.
And for once in Rey's life, she felt as if she could finally relax knowing at least for now, the galaxy was safe. Ben was safe. Her friends were safe. All beings were safe. And though safety would never be guaranteed for long, at least she had Ben to fight the discord. At least there were Jedi's now, capable of warring against the darkness.

Ben held Rey as they sat on the overlooking balcony of their penthouse, observing the airways--now much more populated--as hundreds of zooming ships soared like flying embers in the midnight sky.
Ben massaged Rey's ringed finger, feeling at the protruding gemstone. The ring that he had slipped on her finger not long ago. The ever-present reminder of an eternal promise in such an eternal galaxy. Even in the dim light illuminating from the airways in the distance, a subtle shimmer glinted off of the extraordinarily cut stone.
"It's just amazing how quickly life can change--for the better." Rey mused, eyes darting off from one bolting ship to the next as they raced past their penthouse, leaving behind an audible swish of momentum.

Ben nodded, his fingers traveling down into her loose hair. "It's wonderful, isn't it?"
Rey nodded. "Everything we've been able to accomplish."
"We saved a lot of lives." He replied.
"I hope we'll save more."
"Of course." Ben said, now fondling the ends of her hair in a manner that moved Rey to sleepiness. "I don't have any regrets, nothing I wish we could have done. We're doing our best, and as long as we try with peaceful intentions, there'll always be light left."
Rey ran a finger along Ben's hand that laid steady atop her thigh. Her eyelids had nearly closed shut with consuming slumber. "You're right, Ben."

Ben shifted, shifting Rey--who was practically limp with sleep--along with him. "Surely," he nuzzled his mouth against the side of her cheek, as if he was going to lullaby her to sleep. "We are the chosen ones, after all."
Rey smiled at that, perking up with more attentiveness than she thought she could muster. "And he will be, too."
Ben glanced at her slightly protruding abdomen. A longing, loving wholeheartedness shone in his dark eyes. Rey watched as Ben's broad hand cupped the curvature of her stomach. And she closed her eyes, blinking the world away as sleep finally won over, feeling the softness of Ben's kiss on her forehead as he said, "Yes, of course--him, too."
