Oasis of Serenity

I sat on my chair and leaned on my back. I missed these kind of peaceful nights where I can just listen to some good music and keep myself full. I have nothing but contented and happy heart. I was gazing through my laptop's screen while looking for the best song to play, savoring my milk and taking a bite of my cheesecake. After choosing one, I started drinking my glass of fresh milk.

After a second or two, a famous question ticked my mind. In the nick of time, I decided to put my glass down and get my pen and notebook.

How heavy is your glass of water?

How heavy is your glass of water?

A psychologist then answered:
"The absolute weight doesn't matter. What's important is how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it's not heavy. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will be numb and feel paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn't change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes".

How we deal with our mishaps and adversities reflects the glass of water. If we think about it for a minute, nothing happens, it's still the same. If we think about it more, we start to feel the pain. And if we hold on to it all day long, the tormenting agony starts to eat our system, keeping us from doing anything because we've become numb.

Resolving on to holding to that glass of water a little longer than you supposed, you could've allotted the energy on putting it down, hence, avoiding numbness.

However, as human as we are, we can never settle our emotions logically. We use logic to justify our actions and most of us are coerced with emotions in making decisions. Emotions always win over logic as well as imagination will always win over reality.

These unsettling dispute over two falsely linked but completely different traits made me think of a meteorological phenomenon which is a sun shower.

A sun shower is a weather paradox wherein while the sun is out, the rain is pouring. Temperature variations encourage colums of air to move vertically and in the rising columns, the air cools, and condensing moisture allows showers to develop. But the air in the sinking columns suppresses clouds, creating areas of clear skies between showers, thus, sun showers.

Like how we feel happy and at the same time sad, how we feel everything while also feeling empty, how we feel nervous while being excited, like how the sun storms out even when it's raining

Like how we feel happy and at the same time sad, how we feel everything while also feeling empty, how we feel nervous while being excited, like how the sun storms out even when it's raining. We are not an exempt in feeling everything all at once. We act rashly because of our emotions. We sometimes get lost in translation with our logical self because of how crazy our emotions drives us.

However, sunshower conditions often lead to the appearance of a rainbow, if the sun is at a low enough angle.

At the end of the paradox, we can get a ray of light full of hope

At the end of the paradox, we can get a ray of light full of hope. These serene view gives out complete stillness as you look up on it in awe. Tranquility transpired from within that even after the ravaging emotions that you felt all in one, you can still have peace.

You can, if you want to.

Let go of your worries. Sometimes, being logical helps. If that won't matter ten minutes from now, let go of it. Worrying is such a worrisome. Why do you worry so much more than spending time of being grateful for what you have?

Recharge yourself. Crumble away the untruth. See through the facade of pretense. Eradicate what could have happened. Focus on what can happen.

I put down my pen in disbelief. I laughed at my self. I was at peace ten minutes before that question ticked my head and now, I'm worrying if I should publish this or no.

But here it goes, because I believe that at some extent, if YOU, yes you, reading this, is puzzled with your unsettling heart and mind, take a deep breath and remember to let go of what's making you heave a deep sigh every time or what's making you cry every night.

Get smart and remember to put the glass down.

You deserve an oasis of serenity.
