Fading Interest

They see me through a lens, colored with their view,
They think I'm sad, depressed, feeling blue,
But no, my friend, it's not as they perceive,
It's not sadness or depression, but interest I bereave. The world around me, once vibrant and bright,
Now seems dull, devoid of light,
The things I loved, the joy they brought,
Now seem distant, like fleeting thoughts.I'm not wallowing in sorrow, or drowning in despair,
I'm just losing interest, in what was once there,
The laughter, the passion, the zest for life,
Now seem distant, lost in strife. It's not a sadness that consumes my soul,
But a lack of interest, a gaping hole,
Where once there was curiosity, a thirst for life,
Now there's indifference, cutting like a knife. So, no, my friend, it's not as they believe,
I'm not sad or depressed, but interest I bereave,
In the world around me, in the life I lead,
I'm just losing interest, at a startling speed. But in this void, this lack of interest,
I hope to find a new quest,
A spark of curiosity, a new desire,
To reignite my spirit, to relight my fire.
