Before you start this chapter, please note that I'll be changing my style of writing from this chapter onwards. Instead of writing in Anna's and Colton's POV now, I'll write in a third person's POV now. There are two reasons for that. One, I'd be able to describe the emotions and actions better in a third person's view. Second,  I get to write down both their feelings for each other simultaneously without having to change their POV. Hope you understand and sorry if it bothers you :(

Chapter 27

She wakes up the next morning to an empty bed. Her mind was blank. Her migraine is killing her and she knows she needs coffee. But something doesn't feel right here. She looks underneath the sheets and freezes in place when she realised she's naked. Naked. Anna groans in pain as her migraine got worse while trying to remember what happened last night because she's clearly not in her room right now. She's in Colton's room.

For a second, she couldn't remember how she ended up in Colton's hotel room. It was probably the desperate tone of his "I need you" that got her all hyped up.

Yet, her memory starts flooding back. She was the one who told him she does not want to let him go. That she wants to stay with him, even just for a night. And then, everything happened too fast. Them, making love all night. Her skin feels hot to touch now. She remembered everything now. She wasn't drunk last night. Oh my God, what have I done? She thought to herself. Anna noticed the small blood stain on the sheet and the remaining tingling sensation in between her legs. How could I be so careless? She starts hitting her head softly and blabbering nonsense.

Her phone starts ringing and she rushes to her purse to get it, hoping the caller to be Colton but it was Quinn. It's already 2 in the afternoon now. Shit.

"Hey Quinn,"

"Are you out of your mind? There's pictures of you and Colton kissing on every tabloid out there now. It's all over the Internet too,"

All of the air suddenly left her lungs with a whoosh and her mouth fell open. She quickly lowers the phone and google it, there were pictures everywhere. Them sharing a cup of gelato and grinning at each other like two love birds; them having dinner at Brera and her kissing Colton in the last photo. The headline makes her sick to stomach. Secret lover? Colton's secret lover?

"What were you thinking, Anna? Are you seriously gonna let this man ruin your life again?" Quinn asks worriedly on the phone.

Her life is just beginning to get slightly better. Her career is slowly picking up. She's only a few steps away from her goals. But all that came crashing down now.

"He said just one date and he'll let me go," she swallowed hard. Did he know they were taking pictures? Was that why he took her to all those crowded places? All the troubles just to get back at her? She knew he hates her, but she would have never expected Colton to do this to her.

His grandpa will know. We can't let his grandpa know. He's gonna hurt me again. He's gonna hurt my dad again. He's gonna hurt everyone around me. She thought to herself. But suddenly, Colton's words start replaying in her mind over and over, reminding her that this is his doing. His revenge on her. He hates her to the core.

I want to see you suffer. I want to destroy you the way you did me. Crush everything you have!

You are everything I hate in a woman. Selling yourself out for money.

Anna always has a way to get a man's heart. Don't let fate fool you, my dear friend.

Clutching her phone to her chest, she closes her eyes and tries to calm herself from inside out. Her vision becomes blurry and breathing is hard. Really hard. As if she'd just run the London Marathon. Anna spiralled faster and faster into a panic attack. She wanted to scream because of the frustration, the anger building inside her because Colton deceived her.

She sees a figure standing by the door at her peripheral vision and looks up with her bloody red eyes while trying to catch her breath. There he is, his beautiful face, leaning against the door, smirking. But his smirk instantly disappeared when their eyes locked. He knew something was wrong.

Reaching her in seconds, Colton sat on the bed and placed his hands on her arms. "Anna, what's wrong?"

Realising he had to get her breathing under control before he could get any answers from her he pulled her close and spoke down into her ear.

"Take a deep breath, Anna. Focus on me. I've got you,"

Her breathing remained shallow and erratic despite his instructions.

"Anna, breathe with me. Come on,"

"That's it, love. In and out," he crooned as he felt her resetting her breathing and mimicking the pace of his own.

They remained that way for a few minutes until she regained her composure and gently pushed him away to look at him.

"You got what you wanted now," Anna whimpers. Her voice, thick with tears. The bitterness in her face faded to weary sadness.

"What do you mean?" Colton frowns and cups her cheeks, gently wiping the tears away. Anna did not want to explain any further and threw her phone on her bed, the screen showing their photos. He frowns when he sees the photos, not because he's shocked. He just did not expect Anna to react the way she did now.

"I know,"

He knew about the photos right away after they were published. He did not notice they were taking photos of them during the date. How could he? Anna was so mesmerising and beautiful. She was... his little Annabeth yesterday. She managed to make him fall in love with her once again. Not that he's ever fell out of love anyway. But he falls deeper in love this time. There's no going back. He's ready to beg for her again.

Christine came to him immediately and their PR came up with the a plan; tell the public that it is a publicity campaign for His Obsession, their newly launched fragrance. The shareholders agreed to that as well, except Colton. He does not want to use Anna as a publicity stunt. He wants the public to know Anna as his woman, not some model for his brand.

"Marry me, Anna." He says softly under his breath and Anna gasps. He did not just say that.

"You're joking right?" Anna snickers in disbelief. This man is toxic, Anna. He's so obsessed with getting back at you he would do anything. Reminding herself over and over again.

She has had countless dreams of how Colton's marriage proposal would be when she was little. But not in this way. He just ruined every fantasy she had for a marriage proposal.

"I'm not playing this game with you, Colton. You've done enough," Anna placed her hands flat on Colton's solid hard chest and pushed him back harshly. Sadness and hurt flitted across his face as she made her way to the bathroom while covering her body with the sheets.

Colton understands why Anna is acting this way. So much hatred for him. He deserves it. He should have known that Anna would never betray him or abandon him. But he was too blinded to see. Last night was the proof of everything. He was her first. Her eyes, her words and the way she reacted to him in bed. Those emotions never lie. Yet, he accused her for sleeping with Augustus. I'm an idiot. He should have known Anna better. There must be a reason why Anna left him back then. There has to be a reason.
