The ride to Ba Wei's house was a silent and long one

The ride to Ba Wei's house was a silent and long one. I would glance over at Ba Wei from time to time only to find his eyes glued to his phone. He was probably playing that game he liked again. I turned my attention back out the window and watched the city pass by. It would've been peaceful if I knew where I was being taken.

The lights of the city were soon replaced by what I could only guess were trees. I couldn't make anything out because of the rain.

"We're almost there," Ba Wei said drawing my attention. I hummed an ok and glanced out the window then back to him.

"You never told me you lived this far from the school. Do you walk home everyday?"

He nodded, "yeah, it's good exercise." I looked at him in disbelief. If it was taking this long to drive there, I couldn't imagine walking.

"You've got to be kidding."

He laughed slightly, "I take busses to get fairly close."

"His father has offered me as transportation, but he refuses," Kang Wu said suddenly. I could see Ba Wei get annoyed at the statement. He smacked his teeth and looked back down at his phone.

"Why don't you take the rides. It's better than walking?"

"I am capable of using my body so why not use it," Ba Wei sighed out.

"Still-"

"I call when I don't feel like walking," he interrupted, "so hush." I couldn't help but laugh at his childish behavior. "What are you laughing for?"

I wanted to answer him but I couldn't. Eventually my laughter subsided and I took a deep breath.

"Is this how you act when you're scolded?"

"No. I don't get scolded often." I was about to say something but the car came to an abrupt stop. I furrowed my eyebrows together and Ba Wei laughed. "Kang Wu try to stop less abruptly."

"Yea, sorry." Ba Wei grabbed his things and climbed out of the car. He stood beside the car and waited for me to follow him out. I could've got out on the other side. I grabbed my things and climbed out. Ba Wei closed the door and Kang Wu pulled off not soon after.

"Well, I guess welcome to my home." He walked pass me as he said this. I turned around and I raised an eyebrow. The house that stood in front of me looked huge.

It had two stories and just by looking at it I knew it had to cost a fortune. It was the first time I had actually seen a house since my father sold ours.

"Impressed,"  Ba Wei asked from the middle of the entry way? I walked over to him and nodded.

"It's very beautiful."

"My mother would love to hear that. She's the one that picked it out," he said as we started walking again.

"Does your whole family live here?" I didn't really think I should pry into his business, but I was curious.

"No, just me and my father." His reply was cold, and I didn't even have to look at his face to know that he had that stern look on it.

He stopped at the door and started digging around in his pockets. After searching for a minute, he finally found the keys. He unlocked the door, and pushed it open. "My mother lives in a penthouse."  I hummed an ok as we walked in. I quickly took off my shoes and Ba Wei did the same.

It was really dark, but Ba Wei didn't seem to be bothered by this. He closed the door and locked it. He reached over and cut on a lamp beside the door.

"Try not to make a lot of noise. This is my fathers floor." What does he mean by that?

I decided not to ask anymore questions and instead just follow Ba Wei. He weaved around the furniture and went to the stair case. I walked behind him silently taking in everything.

Once we got to the top of the stairs there was a door. Ba Wei opened it and walked in and cut on a very bright light. As I passed by the door frame I notice that it had a keypad lock on it. I raised an eyebrow, bust still said nothing. I turned my attention from the door to the living room that was sitting in front of me.

"Wait," I scratched the back of my neck in confusion, "didn't we just go through a living room?"

"This is my floor."

"What do you mean?"

"My father has the ground floor. I have the top floor. Each floor has a living room, dining room, bathroom, and three bedrooms," he explained. "It's basically like two three bedroom apartments stacked on top of each other."

"There's three bedrooms in here," I asked surprised? My father is very wealthy but he's not really a house man. He owns many condos and penthouses, but not one home.

"Yeah. You'll be sleeping in one of them tonight." He sat his stuff down, " come on." I looked around and tried to hide my amazement. I sat my things down beside his and started following him. He led me through the living room, and past the kitchen. I couldn't help but wonder just what his father did. He didn't give off a wealthy vibe, but neither do I. I wonder if he thinks that I'm wealthy at all seeing how humble I live. I hope he doesn't.

"You can sleep in this room, " he said as he cut on the lights to a rather large room. The bed was huge, and it took up most of the wall. I stayed quiet and just walked over and ran my fingers across it. "It has a connected bathroom, but to shower you'll have to go to the hall bathroom."

"Alright." Just as I said that my stomach made an audible noise. I was hoping that Ba Wei didn't hear it, but I had no such luck.

"Are you hungry," he asked teasingly as he leaned against the door frame?

"No." That was an obvious lie, but I refuse to let him tease me about it.

He chuckled, "you got to get a better poker face." He turned and walked out of the room. I stood beside the bed feeling more confused than anything. His smile flashed in my mind and my face started to heat up. "COME ON!"

I stayed silent and tried to calm my thoughts. Tried to make the heat that was attacking my cheeks go away, but it was no use. I sighed and just sucked it up. He's gonna tease me anyway.
