Insecurities

11 3 1

I saw you as something divine,
Ethereal and perfect,
Worthy of only the very best,
Above all human baseness.

I felt insecure of myself cause
Such commonliness as mine
Didn't match the angelic attire
I had adorned you with.

And so I forgot
You were a human
Just like me;
Forgot that you too had flaws enough
And wouldn't have shamed me for mine
That you had compassion in plenty
A loving heart with an understanding mind
And would have loved me as I was.

It wasn't you who changed me
It was me, myself.

It was all in my head
Oh, it was all in my head!
