The moonstone slipped easily between Abigail's hands. It was small and smooth, its milky-translucent surface hiding just how much magic laid inside of it. She looked up, the subject of her eyes still undecided as she glanced down at the flat ovoid gemstone.

Elena's room had fallen quiet, the silence that of Abigail's analysis of the moonstone. There was too much to say, too much to protect. So, she passed the stone to Elena without a word.

"Now that you have this back, what are you going to do with it?" She asked Bonnie.

"Right now, it's what is binding the Sun and the Moon Curse," Bonnie replied. "If I can figure out a way to remove the spell from the stone, the stone becomes useless."

"And according to Katherine." Elena turned the moonstone over in her hand. "Klaus becomes vengeful."

"Maybe." Bonnie shrugged. "If he finds out."

"Bonnie, can't this wait? Stefan is stuck in the tomb with Katherine." Elena fell back on the mountain of pillows that were perfectly placed on her bed. "We've got to get him out."

Bonnie took the moonstone from Elena. "Stefan wants me to focus on this."

"Don't listen to him," Elena said quickly. "He thinks that he's protecting me, but he's wrong."

"I'm taking Stefan's side on this one. Besides, the new kid, Luka, he and his dad are going to help me." Bonnie paused. "And we're not going to let you get used in a sacrifice ritual."

"That's right. Wait..." Abigail shook her head. "There's a new kid? Who happens to be a witch?"

"Yes, what do you mean? He's even been to hang out with us at the Grill after school. Wait..." Bonnie's laugh faded with her expression. "You haven't been coming to hang out with us at the Grill after school."

"Yeah. Where have you been, Abigail?" Elena's voice brightened in a twisted way, one that felt like betrayal. "Tyler hasn't been around much either."

The lines on Abigail's face were set deep in complication. "I haven't been with Tyler."

Jeremy walked in then, forcing their attention onto him with a question, "What are you guys arguing about?"

"We're not arguing about anything." Bonnie exchanged a glance with Jeremy that went unnoticed by Elena. "I need coffee."

Abigail rose to her feet. "I do too."

Coffee was already brewed, all they had to do was choose a mug and make it how they liked. They stood around the kitchen, waiting for each other to before moving together into the den. Sitting down in the only seat with a view of the stairs, Abigail took her first sip of coffee.

Elena came down the stairs with her bag over her shoulder.

Abigail set her mug on the side table, spilling some coffee in her efforts to follow her sister. "Where are you going?"

Elena scoffed, shaking her head. "You don't answer that question when I ask it to you."

She blinked hard, the red she saw so vivid it was there when she opened her eyes. "Are you serious?"

"Yeah." Elena pushed past her. "I am."

Jeremy and Bonnie joined them in the foyer. It did not ease the tension between the sisters, they did not think it would. There really wasn't a way to. Not when it came to them.

Their brother's voice echoed, "She took the moonstone."

Elena snapped her head in his direction. "How did you-"
