FLASHBACK

HAN SEOJUN HAD been shopping for his sister's birthday present when he bumped into Yeonwoo. She had just had lunch with Sujin, who had to leave early for a tutoring session. So she was just wandering around aimlessly.

"What are you doing here?" She asked him.

"I'm looking for a birthday gift for my sister." He was no longer awkward around her, ever since he had tended to her wounds after her accident. "Are you busy now?"

"Why? Do you need help?"

"Yeah," He admitted sheepishly.

As they were walking through the shopping centre, Yeonwoo mentioned, "By the way, my parents brought me to the hospital afterwards. The doctor said you did a really good job on my face. See?" She edged her face closer to his, showing her the scabs on her cheek. The poor boy turned red and mute again, edging away and coughing.

"Y-Your brother told me. And of course I'd do a good job. I am Han Seojun after all." To regain his composure, he flicked his hair and straightened his jacket. When Yeonwoo laughed, he was like a little boy who got his Christmas presents early.

They made a stop at a music store. Gowoon had started going to singing lessons at an academy lately, so Seojun was thinking of getting her sheet music or an album.

"Now, she won't stop singing around the house because she's so excited," Seojun said fondly, flicking through a rack of CDs. "She's lucky she has a nice voice."

"Does she take after you? Seyeon told me you have a good voice."

"Obviously she takes after me. And I have an amazing voice."

Yeonwoo laughed and pushed his shoulder teasingly. "You're sooo modest, Han Seojun."

"You need this kind of confidence to make it in life. Otherwise, people will always step over you."

"That's what I keep on telling Seyeonnie." Yeonwoo mused. "But he's far more soft-hearted than me. I'm afraid he may get hurt when he debuts."

Seojun chuckled. "Aaah, typical nagging older sister. Don't worry, I'll be there to protect him. I'm auditioning at the same company as him."

"Seriously?! What song are you planning to audition with?"

"I've been trying out a few songs, but none of them seem right."

"May I suggest one for you?" Without missing a beat, she grabbed his wrist and dragged him to the pop section, checking the alphabet filing before finally finding the L section. She popped a CD into the listening cassette.

It was an old song he recognised, The Flowerpot, by Loveholic. As he listened to it through the headphones, Yeonwoo watched him with growing excitement. 

"So? What do you think?" She asked, once he put down the headphones.

He was silent for a moment, thinking. Finally he said, "Your music taste is so old-fashioned."

She rolled her eyes. "Oh come on! It's my favourite song. It's about one-sided love and how the person is willing to become a flowerpot just to stay close to her love. Isn't it beautiful?" She blinked at him and he got lost in those puppy-dog eyes.

"Uhhh. I'll buy it." He turned pink. "For Gowoon, not for me." He added hastily. But for good measure, he grabbed a book of Disney songs for piano and voice.

Two weeks later, after asking Seyeon permission for her phone number, he texted her.

bingo. They loved it. I didn't want to admit it at the shop, but it seemed like a pretty good choice.

a/n: if you couldn't tell, I am literally obsessed with The Flowerpot by Loveholic now. It's so beautifully sad.

When Seyeon was alive, Seojun's feelings to Yeonwoo started off as infatuation but eventually simmered down. But did Yeonwoo like Seojun the way he does? I won't say a word:))
