His father doesn't leap forward to hug him, doesn't ask him if he's okay, he simply glares at him and nods. "Go catch up with your mother I need to have a word with our guest."
"I'm not leaving her." Jude refutes grabbing hold of my hand in a way that makes me melt.
"Jude it's okay." I assure him but he shakes his head in refusal, "it'll only be for a few minutes."
He glances between me and his father once more to make sure before his mother grabs hold of his other hand and pulls him away from me as his hand slips from my grasp.
