Chapter 25

Maisy's POV: 

Why did he show up? 

He shouldn't be here. 

I don't want him back. 

I can't have him back. 

I just want to forget. 

I like Nick. He's nice. 

I like the others too. 

I like helping them with their school work. 

They like it too I think. 

I hope. 

I think Sage is my best friend. 

Emmett and Xander found out my name. 

What if Elliot tells the others my name. 

I can't hurt anymore. 

I don't want to get punished. 

Nick's POV: 

I've been noticing little quirks of Kiddo's lately.

Like she loves her hospital socks so incredibly much. 

I have never seen her not wearing socks ever. 

When we were at the store I saw her pause for just a second at the funky sock section. 

I of course stocked up. 

I will admit I went a little overboard. 

However I only gave her some because Christmas is coming up, and I figured that would be a good stocking stuffer. 

Cause boy is she obsessed with socks. 

She also stims. 

Or at least that's what I think it is. 

It seems to soothe her anxiety. 

When she's standing she kind of rocks on her feet. 

She also fidgets with her fingers and hands in a very specific manner. 

And she walks most places on her tiptoes. 

I don't know if it's a comfort or a trauma thing. 

I think a nuro test is taking it too far. 

At least for now. 

She already has a 504 plan so she's ok from what I can see she's covered for now on accommodations. 

I think she's just working through dealing with her anxieties. 

Either way she's been making so much more progress as of late. 

She has really been liking hanging out with their group of friends. 

Especially Sage and to my surprise Emmett. 

He's always been a little on the cold side of things. 

Just kind of closed off and not really super personable. 

But Kiddo has really opened him up. 

They were laughing together the other day. 

It was so nice to see a smile on her face. 

He's coming over tonight. 

A bunch of them are.
